Debbie at Travel with Intent fills our weekends with wordy and not so wordy challenges. On Saturday, we get six whole words, but on Sunday, we’re restricted to just one word…and she chooses that word. ๐ Today that word is “Devastation.”ย These are remnants of flooding at the local park several years ago.
One Word Sunday…devastation

That must have been a very violent flood.
There’s a river in the park and when it rises or floods, the mud gets on the set of steps that goes down to the river. When it dries, it looks like this. The water was high, but no violent, at least here.

My ground in parts of my yard looks a bit like that at present. We haven’t had much rain for the past two months.
๐ Scary!
(trying to stick to one word, but that’s not really my cup of tea. Happy Sunday, Janet! ๐ )
I hate to disillusion all my readers/viewers, but this is the drying mud left from when the river in the park flooded. It’s not nearly as devastating as it looks…but don’t tell anyone! ๐
Happy Sunday to you, too, Claudia.

Yep, that’s devastation
I have some flood photos that really show more devastation than this, but this one looks worse in some ways. ๐

Good choice for the prompt, Janet and a very interesting photo. We have a stone walk where I tried to achieve that look. One manโs devestation is anotherโs artistic expression.
Ha! When the river in the park rises and then goes back down, there’s often mud like this left drying on the set of stairs that leads to the river at one point. But it looks pretty bad, doesn’t it?
janet
It really does.
That image says a lot about the event.
Thanks. ๐

A great illustration for the topic, Janet. Floods are scary events.

Thanks, Allan. Thankfully this one, at least in this place, wasn’t too bad.
It does make me think about Noah, though.

This was a hard word this week. Good choice.
That was a hard word, Jackie. I realized that I also have photos of some of the flooding that’s taken place around us, but none as devastating, thankfully, as in many places in the US last year. This shot looks much, much worse than it was, which is also a good thing.

I don’t think there’ll be any shortage of photos for Debs. ๐ฆ Not working today?
I work 2-8:30 pm. Church in the morning, then work. ๐ Unfortunate that there aren’t a dearth of devastation photos, don’t you think?
janet
Definitely! ๐ฆ
The devastation caused by nature (often caused or at least encouraged by us) is scary – a great capture
OK, I thought that was shattered concrete until I saw your mud comment. ๐
Looks much the same, doesn’t it?
