After weeks and months of waiting, the green is back. I may not catch a sunrise for some time because the sun is coming up rather early these days, but it wasn’t far over the horizon when I arrived at the park last week, just high enough to add emphasis.
The water was still, although the river is still high. It’s too cold yet for the frogs, so I don’t have to sneak slowly to the edge of the shore, trying to spot them before they leap out into the water.
After several miles at an exercise pace, I slowed to just enjoy and spotted the first wildflowers of the season, some clusters of Dutchman’s Breeches, a member of the poppy family.
Venturing off the main path, I spotted a rare wild croc plant, child-sized but perfect.
Just before I turned back, I sighted swathes of white trout lilies or white fawnlilies, mostly not yet blooming. But there were a few shy flowers ready to open. I’ll be checking back often.

Wonderful, joyous shots Janet 😀
Today the wildflowers were out even more and it was wonderful. That means tomorrow it’s a photo walk with my Nikon along. 🙂
Such a beautiful time of the year!
It really is and a time when you have to check every day in case you miss something. 🙂

That’s very true!
What a lovely walk
Glad you could come along and enjoy it, Pauline. 🙂

Lovely to share Spring with you, Janet. 🙂 🙂 Have a happy week!
Lovely to have you as always, Jo, and you enjoy your week as well.
Pretty pretty, thanks for taking us along 🙂
Glad you could come along, Joey. It’s always fun with friends.

The back-lit leaves and the tree reflections on the river are really nice, Janet. The Croc plant cracks me up. Too bad they don’t come in pairs…

Evidently they grew on individual plants, so there must be left and right species. A field of them must be quite amazing. 🙂
👍 🤡
That first photo is giving me life right now. The light is so perfect, warm and golden. It’s the image of inspiration!
Happy to inspire, Hannah. 🙂

It’s always interesting to poke around in the parks as the sun is still rising. It is getting harder, unless I want to be even more of a morning person that I am.
I think sunrises will have to wait until fall starts rolling around. But it will be fun anyway.

🙂 Happy to see and read you finally got rid of the snow.
Have a very HAPPY 1st of May 🙂
Thanks and you, too, Claudia.

Looks like it was a lovely walk.
It was. Today was another good one and tomorrow’s a photo walk entirely. 🙂

A lovely outing to celebrate Spring (finally). After the late start, I hope the season lingers longer for you.
Walked on the back trails of the park this morning and saw millions (literally) of wildflowers. Most of them are still waiting to bloom, but it won’t be long!
