I walk through books all the time, but this book walk is different. First, let’s make a stop at the coffee shop in Standard Market, an upscale grocery store/restaurant only a few blocks from our house, to pick up a coffee drink. Being a tea drinker, full-on coffee can give me the shakes so today’s tipple is a decaf iced mocha. What would you like? I’m buying.
All aboard for downtown Naperville, where each summer there’s a theme that participating businesses use to advertise and prettify the city. Last summer it was books. Look who’s also coming downtown! There could be trouble in our future. 🙂
We’re all curious as to what we’ll see next. I think it might be magical.
Passing Hugo’s Frog Bar, a restaurant, we glimpse what? An escaping entrée? A server in costume doing delivery?
I can see more possible trouble looming on the horizon! Phew! It looks as though The Cat in the Hat is on his best behavior today, showing ways to keep teeth clean. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are brushing industriously while the Lorax is stumped.
It’s been quite a walk. Maybe we should sit down here and just relax for a bit. Don’t fall asleep before you get home. Thanks for reading through the city with me and come back soon.
What a fun way to celebrate children’s books and also make the city a kid friendly place.
I agree. I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ll be doing this summer.

Lovely idea Janet (the annual theme and the walk). I’ll have a flat white thanks 😀
I don’t recall what the new them is this year, but I’m sure it will be fun and I’ll have to make sure to get lots of photos for more walks. 🙂
What a wonderful idea!!
I thought so, too. In another month or so, the new idea will be out.

Absolutely
Inspiring people to read books, always good. Long black is my tipple….
I’m completely hooked on reading, so I agree. 🙂

I love the themed decorating. I went through Burlington, VT once and they had done something similarly.
Lots of places seem to be doing this type of thing, Madison. I enjoy it.

Oh, I LOVE these! And your comments on them are the best! lol
🙂 Thanks, Marian.

Janet, what a great way to spend a day.
It was fun and of course, it’s a great way to get people walking around downtown, which also means they often spend money there. 😉
Excellent – and you have some really nice books in the mix. I enjoyed this, Janet.
Thanks for coming along, Dan. It’s more fun with friends.
How fun and whimsical! Thanks for taking us along.
I’m happy you could come, Deborah.

What fun! I think Goodnight Moon is my favorite. Thanks for sharing that and I’ll have a Vanilla latte please.
Then we can sit on a bench and sip. 🙂

Delightfully different, Janet. What a fun event. 🙂 🙂 Thanks for sharing. Have a great week!
The best part is that it’s not just a one-day event, but an all-summer one, giving people plenty time to enjoy the “books.” You have a great week as well.

Good coffee, good books, and you even threw in a couple of flowers. I’d call that perfect. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it, Judy. I just wish everyone could actually have been here to experience it.

Super cute book motif! I love it! I think I prefer the first shot, though — flowers adn iced coffee! 😀 I’ll have a decaf iced Americano, Janet, thanks!
My pleasure, Joey. Glad you enjoyed the drink and walk. 🙂
Oh, I love this, Janet! Being an old book worm as well!
That’s the best kind of worm, one I’ve been my entire life. 🙂
Me too 🙂
The joys of reading that I hope children will do in the future. Hopefully, they won’t be lost to the electronic for a relaxing read. Thank you for the cappuccino. YUM …!!!
Issy 😎
Parents and teachers have a lot to do with whether or not that’s true, but even if they read on a device, read real books, it’s not a dead loss.
janet
Yes, any reading is better than no reading at all. 😎
[…] Monday walk…book walk […]
Love, love, love this! Thanks for giving me a smile today!
My pleasure. I’m glad you enjoyed these benches as much as I did!
