Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Although it makes for adorable photos, little rabbits shouldn’t let people get so close to them. After taking this shot, I startled the little one away, hoping to make it not hang around so long in the future.  It’s the time of year for young things and I’ve seen goslings (already past the cute stage and rather big) and ducklings (almost never past the cute stage and much more shy than geese and offspring.)  But bunnies are about my favorite, I think.

Cute as they are Rabbits are considered vermin over here and huge fines if you have one as a pet in our state of Queensland

    • As I recall, Australia had a huge rabbit problem in the past, which I imagine would help explain that. Now that I looked online, it appears you still have a huge problem with them, so it’s understandable!!

Yes the outback has the problem still. Lots of feral animals and plants brought in by pioneers are now major pests

I love bunnies – big or small. I’ve only seen a couple of them this spring and they always make me smile 🙂

  3. I’m a sucker for bunnies probably because we have had two pet ones in the past. 🙂

  4. A cute little bunny, Janet.

We like seeing the ones in our yard. As much as we’re happy that our dog doesn’t bother them, we are trying to make sure they understand that she is a threat.

We don’t see a lot of bunnies out here so when we do spot one, it’s always a thrill.

What a cutie, and a great photo, Janet.

Rabbits are a huge problem in NZ too (same issues as in Aus with imported plants and animals). But weirdly, it’s ok to have them as pets here.

Yes. I hate seeing the suffering of animals abandoned. We find feral cats, particularly kittens, around the neighbourhood sometimes and that breaks my heart.

  11. What a sweetie! I’m always the one lumbering about, scaring off the bunnies, so I could never get a shot like this. It’s a treat enough just to get a glimpse before they scamper off.

Bunnies are my favorite, too, although they destroyed our garden so thoroughly and so often we don’t even try anymore. 🙂
