If I get up at 5 am  (my six words for Six-Word Saturday), I can get a LOT done before noon.  Here’s how it went on Wednesday.

I walked in the park on a beautifully cool, sunny morning, spotting cormorants in the “bird tree” (the dead tree where the birds like to congregate), wild irises amongst all the green, and a heron looking for breakfast…

did a weight workout at the health club, straightened up the house, did dishes, had breakfast, did two loads of laundry, stopped at WalMart for Consumer Reports highly-rated suntan lotion, then Costco for an outdoor carpet for the Wyoming cabin (plus a few impulse buys)…AND…went to Verizon, where I got everything on my old iPhone switched to my new 6s iPhone all before noon.

Then I had time to read, get a few more things done, fix quiche for dinner, and catch up on my blog reading, all without feeling in the least bit guilty.  Oh, yes, and had some tea.

Life is good when I get up at 5:30 am.

    Super cool pics!☺

Oh you are so right. Get up early that’s the ticket. I wake up around 5.30 but persuade myself to stay in bed. A mistake if you fall asleep again, and then wake up feeling mangled. And the early bird sees the best things too!

    • Even if I stay in bed, I rarely go back to sleep, so I usually just get up and get going. Sometimes, though, I just lie in bed, luxuriating that I don’t have to get up right away. I love to be out in the park early because, as you say, you often see the best things then.

It’s taken a while, but i’ve definitely become a morning person too.

    I couldn’t agree more.

Wow, Janet, you had a much better Wednesday than I did, and I got up at 5:00 am. Oh, I went to work and didn’t get home until 10:00 pm. That might be the difference.

It’s good to see you’re planing for the trip west. You must be looking forward to that. I’ll bet those days start pretty early.

    What a beautiful iris!!

5:30AM, eh? I never sleep that late.

Yikes, I’d have passed out long before dinner Janet!!! Lovely images, esp love the tranquility of the second. I was up at 6 this morning and am still in recovery mode LOL

  10. You have been a busy little bee today. Congrats.

  11. I get all that done as well, just takes a few weeks….

My life is better when I rise at 6:30, but I prefer to deny that, because at 6:30 I honestly have no will to rise. For some reason 7 is much easier.
It is splendid how much you accomplished that day, particularly in the errand department. Good for you!

    • Funny about those numbers. If I wake up at 5:50, it seems early, but 6 or 6:01 would feel as if I’d slept in. 🙂 Now if stores just opened before 9 or 10, I could get even more done. 😉

I totally get that. Back in my 5am days, which I refer to as O’Dark Thirty Days, I’d wanna get it all done and lie down with the littles, and some days I couldn’t because places weren’t open early enough! Ugh!

I get it. I’m a morning person too … and it’s much easier at this time of year when the sun also rises early.

Ask me again in November when it’s soooo much harder!

  14. That iris photo is stunning. I agree, it’s a great feeling when you accomplish so much by lunchtime. We usually wake with the sun, so our waking time varies with the season.

    • Thanks, Christine. I hope I’ll sleep in a bit longer when it gets light later, but I so enjoy having lots of hours of light that I don’t mind (too much.) There are days, though, when I wish I could “sleep in” until 6 or 6:30 am! 🙂

Hi, Janet! I started an experiment on Wednesday and it’s third day I got up much earlier that before…and I can certainly agree with you! I have a lot of time now and feel myself better, not worrying about stuff to do or my bed 🙂
Do you do it regularly now?

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
