At the cabin, no one has taken the time to name the lakes. They’re simply the First Lake, Second Lake, and Third Lake. There are some rowboats available on the First Lake, but let’s take a walk instead. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s wonderfully green, as you’ll soon see. But let’s start with some yellow.
At the end of the lake, we can look down to where the creek drops down. This time of year, you can hear the rushing sound and even see it for a bit before it disappears into the willows and other growth. Willows are a favorite of moose, but unfortunately I don’t spot any today.
Turn the other way and you’re looking back toward the cabins. Ours is out of sight on the right.
The lupine are beautiful and abundant around the lake and elsewhere. We’re about halfway now and that will do it for now.
for Jo’s Monday Walk, which this week features some lovely gardens

What a glorious sky
It’s glorious when clear, too. 🙂 But I agree. The clouds were quite something.

A calm and lovely place to walk – and I love lupines.
I love walking there and this year, since I was there in spring, there were lots and lots of lupines. I’ve missed them all the years we’ve been there later in summer.
beautiful
Thanks. I agree. 🙂
Beautiful way to start the day!
Glad you could come along, Madison. 🙂
Well, it’s been a walk so far! I love the view, and that Lupine at the end!
I like all the views and the lupine were so beautiful and profuse this year.
These are so pretty, Janet. Thanks for bringing us along.
You’re always welcome, Dan.
Nice neighborhood, Janet.

That it is, Allan. 🙂
I always love to be beside water, Janet. Thanks a lot for taking me along. 🙂 🙂
I’m always happy to have you along, Jo, although we’d have to stop at the cabin for tea, as it’s a long way into town for coffee. But I could offer some delicious homemade scones with dark chocolate chips and dried tart cherries. 🙂
Sounds good to me, Janet. 🙂 🙂
You’re on then. We’ll have a great view from the porch, too.
What a beautiful place for a wonderful walk. I recognise the naming theme with the lakes – our local woods are called the first and second lol
It’s an easy way to do it and only confusing if you don’t know from which end to start. 🙂
A lovely serene location and walk. Maybe you should name the lakes, This, That and The Other (in deference to the name of your blog). 🙂
Ha! That name came about because at the urging of my husband and younger daughter that I blog, I’d gotten everything on WP ready, then at the end, was asked the name of the blog. Having nothing ready to hand and being unwilling to go through the entire process again, this (or that or the other) is what came to mind. I thought it wouldn’t pigeonhole the blog under any specific topic, leaving me free to figure out what the heck I was doing! 🙂
Same here. Etc Etc Etc was as non specific a title as I could think of at the time.
A wonderful place to take relaxing walks.
That it is. Glad you could come along.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful walk Janet. 😀
Glad you could come along, Su.
So breathtaking Janet! 🙂
It is always that for me.
Beautiful! It’s raining here today, so I’m happy to bask in your sunshine! You could at least call the lakes by foreign translations: Lake Primo, Lake Secundus, Lake Tiga. Lovely scenery; wonderful photography!
Or Eins, Zwei, Drei or… 🙂 We’re having sun here in Naperville as well, although rain was in the forecast and we could use it. It’s probably because the little local farmers market cancelled due to the forecast!
