Thursday doors…French doors with flowers

There are flowers everywhere in Colmar.  Some of them are even found around doors, the perfect combination.  Right now, with winter hanging on and not much color to be found, it’s especially fun to browse through photos of summer and to remember strolling through the colorful streets of one of Europe’s most attractive cities.  I can also take pleasure in the thought that today is the last day of February and that perhaps spring is just around the corner.

Thanks for the reminder, Janet, with these colorful, summery photos of a sweet and warm place in the world.

    • You’re very welcome, Jet, and thanks for stopping long enough to comment as well. I like winter, but I’m officially ready for spring, although it looks as though for the near future, we’ll still be cold. 🙂

  2. Tish Farrell says:

The French do such very good doors, don’t they 🙂

  3. I love the combination of all the flowers, greenery, and doorways, and love the imagery of European countryside and little villages. So I particularly love these posts of yours 🙂

    • I’m happy you like them, Madison. Colmar’s not a small town, but certainly not a large city by any stretch of the imagination. It has well under 100,000 people according to Wikipedia, source of all knowledge, which is similar to some of the Chicago suburbs, but quite large compared to where you are. These photos are from the historic downtown area.

You sure know style when you see it, Janet!

  5. Those images are pretty enough for postcards, Janet. Gorgeous. Love the first one.

  6. Dan Antion says:

I love that corner door. There seems to be a bit of an optical illusion effect going on with it. It looks to be on a corner and then it doesn’t. I also really like the flowers on the door at the top.

    • Maybe it’s a door to Hogwarts, Dan. 🙂 This visit was during September, so there weren’t as many flowers as the previous year when we visited in summer. But there were still enough to be gorgeous.

Wow, each one of these doors is so charming! Cher xo

  9. Sweet to see flowers above a door. You are definitely the door queen.
    Nicely done, Janet, as always.

    • Many thanks, Izzy. I hope all’s well with you and yours.

      • Yes, things are going better. Just taking one day at a time and grateful to be able to do that. Thank you for asking. I just love your doors. No matter how many times I decide to focus on taking photographs of them I’m distracted by something else. Perhaps, one day i”ll surprise you. But, please, do not hold your breath. LOL I’ll enjoy yours for now. 😍😎

  10. Ally Bean says:

Oh my goodness these are pretty photos. I love the doors and the flowers… well as winter ends here it’s lovely to see the colors.

  11. roninjax says:

    Very lovely. 🙂

  12. Junieper2 says:

Both characteristic and beautiful doors, Janet! The first one because it’s a three paneled door, and the brown narrow one is so unique! Thank you for coming by and enjoy your weekend:)

  13. Janet, what gorgeous doors you found. Love them all. Hugs to you on this last day of February. 🤗

  14. Prior... says:

Wow – you have some great archived doors…. and they were extra charming with the flowers and summer vibe

  15. JT Twissel says:

We can all hope that Spring is coming soon but it looks like here on the West Coast March is planning to come in like a lion. Lovely pics!

  16. Norm 2.0 says:

Great shots Janet. Of course I’m particularly fond of the corner one, but flowers are a welcome sight right about now as well 🙂

  17. These are my favorite doors today! Beautiful!

  18. Joanne Sisco says:

These are pretty treasures, especially the 2nd one. They offer a great reminder of the lovely weather still ahead!

  19. Su Leslie says:

That second door is fascinating. It looks like it’s quite small, but with such an elaborate motif above.

  20. joey says:

Ooooh, that first door has all the texture and style! Great finds, Janet!

  21. Either the doors dress up the flowers or vice versa, the flowers dress up the door compositions and the result is good all around!
