Friday flowering tea

No flowers around yet, so instead I’ll share this photo of a flowering tea.  Tea leaves are wrapped around dried flowers and tied at the bottom.  When steeped, the leaves open, revealing the flower/s.  It’s a joy to watch the unfurling as well as to see the finished “flower” and drink the tea.

  1. I love them, they are super beautiful and they make afternoon tea to a fest for the tummy and the soul ;O)

  2. ksbeth says:

how pretty, i’ve never seen one close up

  3. that sounds nice! I have never seen that before!

  4. I’m not a big tea drinker, but I’d give this beauty a chance. I’ve never heard of this process, but I can imagine it would be fascinating to watch. 🙂

    • This one was made with white tea, leaves just picked, dried, and bagged, or in this case, tied. So the tea had a delicate flavor. Did you know that all tea, white, green, oolong, black, or other, all come from the same plant? The leaves are just treated differently.

  5. My mom got me a set like this a while back and I enjoyed using it even though I’m not a big tea drinker. It was just too pretty not to use.

That;s beautiful, Janet. I’ve never heard of that.

  8. Thanks for teaching me something new today, Janet. I’ll have to give this a try.

  9. Lovely! I’ve tried these before but they’ve all been duds. The packaging looks so promising, but when they “bloom,” they’ve just looked like grassy wet clots of dirt. And taste just about as good, for that matter. I need to find a better source.

  10. Yuck, no thank you. I’m glad for you if you enjoy it, but I have to say that I don’t want any drowned flowers in my tea. 🙂

    • 😁. The just tastes like tea, and the flowers generally look pretty. Of course I would never try to force anyone to have any. LOL. The unfolding of the whole thing is beautiful.

  11. Love the concept, thanks.

  12. Amy says:

    Sound wonderfully relaxing! 🙂

  13. Forestwood says:

So the flowers don’t flavour the tea at all, Janet?

  14. joey says:

    That is just lovely!

  15. This sound like a wonderful gift to give for an unexpected kindness of a friend…have you a recommendation of a [place to buy these lovely treats?

  16. That is too pretty to drink!!! I read this off line and without the image, so it was nice to refresh the page and see it in full color! Next time on line I’ll lob this back to you – it’s like trying to play tennis in syrup!

    • It’s so much fun to watch the flower unfold and then get to enjoy the tea as well. I’m glad you enjoyed it once you got to see that photo. Playing tennis in syrup–yuck! 🙂
