This little guy looks pretty cool…until he comes anywhere near your socks or fleece or hair.  Then the reason behind those little hooks becomes apparent…and almost impossible to remove.  That’s the bad part.  The good part is that the burdock burr was the inspiration behind Velcro.  I don’t know about you, but I’m hooked!

  1. I am hooked too! 😀

  2. Love the velcro product, and remember walking the pastures when we had horses and coming back covered in these things. Still good memories though. 🙂

    • When I was picking up trash at the park one day in winter, I got hooked by these on my wool cap as well as on my clothing. Oh, yes, and in my hair. It was not a pleasant experience. But I still love how they look.

  3. Thanks for today’s tidbit, Janet. I knew about the background of Velco, but never saw a photo of the burr that inspired the product until now. Happy Friday.

  4. Love the light and shadows. It reminds me, Thistle.

I didn’t realise it was a burdock burr that inspired velcro.

    They work well. Great photo!

  7. joey says:

I find that I like anything shaped that way. (Not stuck to me!) They’re so appealing in their perfect details, and you captured it well.

  8. Oh yes, I remember those burrs being caught on my clothes when I was a kid and had been playing out in the fields. 😳

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
