The promised April showers didn’t, thankfully, materialize with the exception of a few brief moments, so our daughter and I had plenty time to walk through various neighborhoods of Philadelphia. The city is filled with row houses, so doors come fast, furious, and close together. But there are also other types of doors. This first one, for instance, is obviously not the main door. No wondering where the door leads, though! 🙂
Think there’s a security concern here? The industrial appearance is softened just a smidgen by the addition of an arrangement of leaves and plants.
Once I saw the shape of this door and its windows as that of a kimono, I couldn’t get it out of my head.
The person in charge of our door city of brotherly love is Norm, all the way up in Montreal. Get out your virtual passport and pop over to view more doors from various parts of the world.

That security door looks pretty formidable. The Red church doors are nice, but what happened to that lamp?
If you look at the angle of the arm of the lamp, I think it’s actually meant to be that way so that the light shines more or less straight down.

As we’ve often said here, there’s something about a red door and churches seem to have quite a few of the ones out there. 🙂
oh Janet – how could a door photo make me chuckle so much – but the security one did – and the way you introduced it had to play a part – yes – think there is a bit of security issue – ha
and the foliage adds to the mystique of that cool photo.
The kimono door/entrance is another unique find and then it is in blue and white – so Japan pretty 🙂
I rather doubt the door and windows were meant to bring a kimono to mind, but I have one hanging in the house that has just that outline.
As for the grey door, who would want to carry all the keys you need for that? 🙂

I would carry them if it was needed – it would likely start to feel normal – like a dog does not notice the collar anymore – you just get used to a bunch of locks (maybe?)
oh and in the first one – what is up with the light?
I think it’s meant to be at that angle so that the light shines down in front of the door. Look at the angle where the arm comes out from the base and it appears to be straight, not bent out of shape.

It’s really a good place to visit. If you get there, go to happy hour at Double Knot. And then get hot chocolate or some other amazing chocolate concoction at Rim Cafe!
Three locks – wow ….wondered what happened there…. Like the setting of the blue door.
I didn’t notice all the locks when I was taking the photo, but I too wonder what was going on there. There are so many wonderful doors in Philly that even I got a bit burned out after awhile. 🙂
