Wild Wednesday…I am not alone.

Last week as I was just about at the end of a lovely solitary walk, I looked up to see another walker on the trail. I stopped and eased my phone out, but I was evidently not perceived as a threat as s/he kept coming slowly before taking the path that went off to the right.

Thanks to Deborah at Circadianreflections for the “Wild Wednesday” idea.

    Wild indeed…

  2. What a beauty! You’re welcome!! 😀

  3. I’m afraid I would have eased back away and never gotten that shot. 🙂

    • It wasn’t as close as that shot makes it appear, because I zoomed the phone on the camera as far as I could and then cropped the photo besides. However, by the time it went up the path, we were reasonably close. However, I had been picking up trash along the trail that day, so I had a white kitchen garbage bag full of trash. I figured if it came toward me aggressively I would yell and swing the bag around.

coyotes in Naperville, who’d a thunk it !

  5. A solemn moment for both of you, and it’s grand to see such a wild animal. You have good instincts.

  6. Jet Eliot says:

What an absolute thrill for you, Janet. And how marvelous to see the coyote is strong and healthy and wearing a thick, healthy coat. It’s a grand compliment when a coyote is enough at ease to just walk on. Lovely moments on the trail.

    • Thanks, Jet. I always hope to see something interesting a/o unusual when I’m walking and this qualified for both, as I don’t see coyotes very often. On days when there are many other people out, especially cyclists, I always figure I won’t see many animals, so this was really appreciated. 🙂

How lucky and glad you each accepted the other

  8. Dan Antion says:

I was glad to read that you zoomed in on that guy. As it is, it looks uncomfortably close, unless that trash bag had a few rocks in it 😉

    • No rocks, Dan, but it would have made a lot of noise and I don’t think think it would have been a problem. I usually have a good stick located as well. 🙂 But I’m very careful.

He must have thought you were no threat to him (or her).

  10. A wonderful encounter of the wild kind. 👏🏻😍

  11. Su Leslie says:

    Beautiful animal.

  12. What would you have done with your phone? He/She would have been on you in seconds.
Just curious as I, probably, would have done the same.

  13. joey says:

Ooh! I’m glad you had a safe encounter and still managed a snap!

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
