Thursday doors…hinges, color, and BIG door (with selfie alert)

After we visited the WNDR Museum and had coffee, we walked to and from lunch, spotting some unusual doors on the way. No matter how attractive the door, it’s sometimes overshadowed by the hardware.

This cereal and milk dispenser was found in the cafe area of the WNDR Museum. I think it’d be fun to drive this down the street, minus the cereal et al, of course. 🙂

I’m not much for selfies (and this isn’t strictly speaking a selfie since my husband took it), but having a person by the door gives a better indication of how big this door really is! I wonder who carries the key around for this. Talk about big pockets.

  2. Dan Antion says:

Wow, that’s a big door! These doors are great. I do appreciate seeing the old hardware.

  3. Dymoon says:

loved the doors today girl! good selection…

  4. Norm 2.0 says:

Wow, the hinges on that first one are something else indeed.
I’ve actually captured that big cartoon monster door myself once. It’s adorable. You gotta love the playful sense of humor it took to come up with that idea. Excellent post 🙂

    • What are the odds of us both having the same big door, Norm? Very cool!

Actually there’s at least 3 of us. I’m pretty ure Cher posted it…about a year ago, I think. But it’s nice to see different takes: mine was from a tour bus, hers was from the sidewalk, and you got the closest shot of all 🙂

  5. What was that big door the door to? Inquiring minds would like to know! Love your doors in Chicago this week!

  6. scr4pl80 says:

How fun is that! Great doors. Nice to see you too, Janet.

  7. JT Twissel says:

That last door shot is particularly wonderful. Someone doesn’t want to be disturbed!

Those crazy hinges on that first door aren’t really hinging anything! Mind you, I’m not averse to hardware for the sake of hardware, so that’s fine with me. Wonder if that big door really opens, or if it’s all for fun. It IS fun. Thanks for a chuckle. 🙂

    • But our like of the door hinges on them, so it’s an important job. 🙂 I’m not sure about the big door and I was too absorbed in how big and cool it was to look properly.

  9. Such a cool post today. Great doors!

  10. Amy says:

I haven’t seen a big door like this one. How fun 🙂 Great photos, Janet.

The rustic door outshines that cheerfully painted truck. Still a terrific 2020 to you!

  12. Did you hear me chuckling? The truck is a thing of beauty, the hardware on that first door just screams look at me, and the selfie is a hoot. Now, these are DOORS!

  13. susurrus says:

Three great choices. It would be an experience to drive this truck around, especially if you kept the cereal to hand out along the way! My sweetheart drives an old green pickup truck with a garden in the back and it draws some attention, but driving this would be wild!

  14. slfinnell says:

That truck is parade worthy! If it’s drivable?? lol

  15. belocchio says:

Fabulous door. And yes, what is that frightening green monster you are letting out, Janet. You are brave!

  16. I’ve often mentioned the need for a person or animal or ‘object’ in a photo of a really big tree, but yes, the same is needed when it’s a reallyh really big door! Again, you’ve given me a great smile!

    • It’s hard to really understand the scale of this door without a point of reference, that’s for sure. I usually don’t have pictures of myself, but this time I thought it was needed. 😊

      • It was a delight to see you in the photo! Hope the weekend has been a good one for you!

      • Aww, thanks. It has been a good weekend. Prepping for a drive to Philly with out younger daughter’s last stuff (because we’re not moving it to Arizona) and also getting in a bit of downtime before hitting the sorting and decluttering again on Monday. Blessings on your upcoming week, Lisa. I always enjoy hearing from you.

  17. Resa says:

I like that first door! It looks like there’s a real neat story behind it!

  18. joey says:

You really are providing necessary scale there. I looooove the big door! I love the truck. And the wooden door. These are all winners 🙂
