While my daughter and I wandered through the Art Institute of Chicago recently, I was on the lookout for doors and I found lots of them. I offer them for you today, especially for Norm and Dan as well as any other woodworkers.
I’ll be on the road or in Philadelphia until Tuesday, taking a last load of our daughter’s things to her before we move, so I don’t know how much I’ll be online. But I always appreciate your thoughts and I’ll respond eventually.

for Thursday Doors
Happened to be still up on Wed. to see this! Great you saw this! I love drawers and doors in furniture, because it means I can store something in there!
I feel the same way, Jesh . 😉
Lovely rich coloured wood!
It was, Sue, and obviously well-kept.
Certainly looks like it
Nice doors, and the move seems to be coming right up. 🙂
That it is. Making progress but not looking forward to it, the actual move, that is and of course we still have to find a rental house. Too early yet, though.
I love the middle photo. That’s my favourite wood colour.
There was so much beautiful furniture there, Jean, although quite a lot was a bit ornate for me. Wood furniture is so lovely.

I can appreciate the skill in ornate furniture but for my own home I prefer a simple design, no dustraps with that 🙂
I’m with you, Jean.
Remarkable craftsmanship and beauty in all the pieces that caught your eye. Best wishes on your move, Janet.
Thanks very much, JANE. There are other, more elaborate pieces that I’ll share at some point which are beautiful but not my style. But wooden furniture is amazing.
Those are beautiful pieces. I like the round table and the sideboard a lot.
We have a beautiful sideboard in our house, which gives me great pleasure and is also very useful. I think of these the first and last are my favorites but there all lovely.
Decades ago when Big Baby Boy was little I rescued a BIG sideboard from Goodwill and refinished it. It was really too big for our house, but I liked it and it served me well for decades. I did finally give it away about 8 years ago. It would have fit in the new dinning room if I had kept it. I’m using an antique little side table in the dining room now.
These are beautiful pieces of furniture, Janet. There’s nothing like moving to bring our awareness to the surface of furniture and stuff. Good luck with your move.
Thanks, Jet. Too much “stuff” and unfortunately I’m attached to some of it. 🥰
🙂 What a beautiful table and lamp, dear Janet!
Have a HAPPY day xo 🙂
Thanks, Claudia. You have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. ❤️
I hope you enjoy safe travel. These are beautiful items. I love the craftsmanship.
I thought of you and Norm right away, Dan.
Wow, the time and dedication it must have taken to create these! Unusual in a time of mass production…
Safe travels, Janet!
They certainly are beautiful. So far, the tripks been good and safe. This time I’m only going halfway the first day and staying with one of my s-i-l’s.
Nice to combine a roadtrip with a visit to family!
It is.
I LOVE furniture doors and drawers! These are wonderful finds. Happy moving. I look forward to seeing your settled-in shots. 🙂
Glad you liked them, Marian. What I have on the blog will certainly change when we move. 🥰
Mmm these are wonderful. Pieces like these do belong in a museum; they are classics.
Safe travels 🙂
Thanks, Norm. I knew you’d like them. I’m safely in Philly .
All three are lovely pieces of furniture.
Thanks, Su.
Wow, beautiful pieces!
Thanks, Brenda. I enjoyed seeing them, too.
