Started from Springfield, Missouri at 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Signs of spring were everywhere: green grass, trees in bud or even with leaves, cattle grazing in green fields, even a long stretch of yellow forsythia.
Gas prices kept dropping, to as low as $1.43. Made filling up an absolute joy. Much of our drive takes us near or next to the iconic Route 66. I saw this gem on my first trip but couldn’t get a photo. I thought this frame gave a feel of an old time postcard.

There were lots and lots of trucks along the way. I take that as a positive sign. Goods are moving to where they’re needed. And that reminds me. If all of you hoarders would just buy in regular amounts, there’d be enough for everyone. This virus doesn’t cause diarrhea…so you don’t need six months worth of toilet paper. There’s no biological warfare…so you don’t need a pallet of bottled water. And not everyone wants to be vegan…so leave us some ground beef at least!
In New Mexico, the sky started getting black and then came rain. But nearing Albuquerque, an enormous rift opened and the sun blazed through. It was awesome, in the true sense of the word.

We’re in the same hotel where I saw the amazing sunset a few weeks ago, but on the other side, which evidently wanted to show its stuff as well. Sorry for the bit of inside reflection. Just concentrate on the colors.

BTW, temperatures went from 60 to 80 to 95 to 63. 🤭😳
Tomorrow we’re home and into the adventure.
You made me Google Britten USA and I learned about the Leaning Tower of Texas and that Route 66 runs through Texas! It’s a nice way to travel—while never leaving my couch.
Glad you enjoyed the trip. We plan to go back to explore the old Route 66 when we’ve settled in and have time. That will be quite interesting and should yield some great photos. 🙂

Exciting. Are you bringing much stuff with you?
My van was packed to the max (and I’m a very good packer.) The movers are coming already on Sunday, so we’ll have a houseful that needs to be organized. Right now the house is in a bit of a mess as we just arrived this afternoon (Friday), unloaded everything, and are trying to relax a bit. As for as what we moved, we moved most things, but we did get rid of some furniture and lots of other things before we moved.
Take photos so you can appreciate the difference once you are settled.
Wow; that is such a beautiful sunset. Safe travels Janet
Thanks, Su. We made it safely and our furniture arrives Sunday already.
Marvellous! Well done you, you must be pleased to be home
We got in this afternoon (Friday) and our furniture and everything will arrive on Sunday. Things are moving quickly, in every sense of the word.
Very good
You are making excellent progress!
And here we are! More on that in the coming days.
So glad to know you’ve arrived safely, Janet!
Thanks! It’s a great relief to finally be here. Now for the next phase of trying to figure out where everything goes. 🙂 Never a dull moment!
Thanks for bringing us along. It’s good to know you’re well and making progress.
Gorgeous sky!
Albuquerque seems to have amazing sunsets.
That’s a huge temp change! I guess if you need to move this is a good time! Not that much traffic. The hoarders are keeping truckers busy, that’s for sure. But think of the food waste. So unnecessary.
Good luck. That tower looks eerily slanted and appears to almost be falling.

Isn’t it fun? It’s definitely a landmark. As for the trip, we’ve arrived and our other things will show up on Sunday, so all is well. 🙂
That’s so good! My son lived in AZ for awhile.
