As behooves us now living a desert climate, here’s a desert flower, the flower of the prickly pear cactus. We have two somewhat small prickly pears in the backyard, but they have a prodigious number of flowers waiting to bloom.

Dear Janet,
We visited Jan’s brother in Oro Valley a couple of years ago this month. The flora and fauna there are so different from the Midwest. I’m sure your camera is happy.
Shalom and stay well,
Rochelle
Yes, although it will be happier where I can get out and about, not just walk the same places near our house. 🙂
The colour is beautiful!
It’s even deeper than the photos show and as you say, beautiful.
💕💐
Such a pretty color. And you have 2? Not jealous.
If you were here, I’d give you a pad that you could plant yourself, but I guess I’ll just have to share ours. 🙂
I love a prickly pear fruit, fresh from the fridge on a warm summer’s day, but oh those little thorns can be nasty!
Blessed Easter, Janet.
I’ve never had the fruit, but I understand all those little thorns are quite a problem to get off. 🙂
You need a surgeon’s touch, a fork and a sharp knife to get to the tasty insides, but oh it is so worth it!
So beautiful Janet! I love cactus flowers. Yesterday it snowed here. I bet you are so glad to be in the sunshine!
Have to say I’m enjoying the sunshine (which is good, as my choices are limited)! It’s been lovely weather the last few days: 50’s or a bit lower at night and 70’s during the day. Next week the 80’s return and of course we have yet to experience the heat of summer.
A little desert secret. Looks like a fine welcome home bouquet
Really gorgeous
If they all or mostly bloom at one time, it will be quite something. They’re putting on a show, that’s for sure and I appreciate the welcome.
Delightful!
Glad you enjoyed them, too.
janet
Really love the color! I’ve tried to grow these a couple of times but failed.
I’m not sure where you are, but they certainly seem to like it here. I’m glad whoever planted things planted desert plants and not things that are lovely but need lots of water and care. Native plants are the way to go.
Beautiful photos Janet 😀
Thanks very much, Cee. Hope you’re well.
Those are really gorgeous! It’s a whole new photogenic world out there, for you!
That there is and for you as well.
YAY!!!
I’m looking forward to seeing things I’ve never seen before now that you’re getting out and about with your camera.
It will be an adventure, Dan. Glad you’re along for it.
Great colors, and you’re there for the bloom!
I am!!
Great captures! Have you ever ventured out to eat cactus/ or prickly pear? Wishing you a lovely Easter!
I haven’t. I know people make/sell prickly pear jam.
Have a blessed Easter, too, and stay healthy!
Magnificent, aren’t they? Happy Easter, darlin! 🙂 🙂
Oh, those are SO PRETTY!
They really are, Marian. I’m glad you enjoyed them, too.
Gorgeous colour, Janet. I’ve only seen the fruit in the supermarkets, but never knew what the flowers looked like. 😅
More and more of them are blooming each day, Sylvia. It’s lovely.
I don’t know why I’m not getting your posts in my reader. 😳
I don’t know how that works. Did you get them there at one time? There are some blogs that don’t show up in my reader either. 😦
No, I had to come searching for you.
Then I’m honored you come so often!
