As behooves us now living a desert climate, here’s a desert flower, the flower of the prickly pear cactus. We have two somewhat small prickly pears in the backyard, but they have a prodigious number of flowers waiting to bloom.

  1. Dear Janet,

We visited Jan’s brother in Oro Valley a couple of years ago this month. The flora and fauna there are so different from the Midwest. I’m sure your camera is happy.

    Shalom and stay well,

    Rochelle

Such a pretty color. And you have 2? Not jealous.

  3. de Wets Wild says:

I love a prickly pear fruit, fresh from the fridge on a warm summer’s day, but oh those little thorns can be nasty!

    Blessed Easter, Janet.

So beautiful Janet! I love cactus flowers. Yesterday it snowed here. I bet you are so glad to be in the sunshine!

    • Have to say I’m enjoying the sunshine (which is good, as my choices are limited)! It’s been lovely weather the last few days: 50’s or a bit lower at night and 70’s during the day. Next week the 80’s return and of course we have yet to experience the heat of summer.

  5. A little desert secret. Looks like a fine welcome home bouquet
    Really gorgeous

  6. scr4pl80 says:

Really love the color! I’ve tried to grow these a couple of times but failed.

    • I’m not sure where you are, but they certainly seem to like it here. I’m glad whoever planted things planted desert plants and not things that are lovely but need lots of water and care. Native plants are the way to go.

  7. Cee Neuner says:

    Beautiful photos Janet 😀

  8. Resa says:

Those are really gorgeous! It’s a whole new photogenic world out there, for you!

  9. Dan Antion says:

I’m looking forward to seeing things I’ve never seen before now that you’re getting out and about with your camera.

  10. Great colors, and you’re there for the bloom!

  11. DrJunieper says:

Great captures! Have you ever ventured out to eat cactus/ or prickly pear? Wishing you a lovely Easter!

  12. restlessjo says:

Magnificent, aren’t they? Happy Easter, darlin! 🙂 🙂

  13. marianallen says:

    Oh, those are SO PRETTY!

  14. Gorgeous colour, Janet. I’ve only seen the fruit in the supermarkets, but never knew what the flowers looked like. 😅

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
