I saw these on my walk this morning and was instantly enamored. Learning their name (aka peacock flowers, dwarf poincianas and red bird-of-paradise) only made me love them more.
By the way, it was a 17-lemon walk!!! I didn’t want to carry all those lemons for a several mile walk, so I hid the bag behind a nearby bougainvillea and picked them up on the way home. More lemonade tomorrow.
Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!
It is something different! Never seen that bush before. Have a great weekend Janet!
I hadn’t either, Alettat, but it’s a beauty. Enjoy your weekend as well.
😊👍
Those stamens are incredibly long. Love the vibrant colour of the flower.
Thanks, Sue. I was instantly enthralled.
A 17-lemon walk! You are rocking the citrus fruit. I’ve never seen flowers like the ones in your photos. The colors are great.
Beautiful flowers plus ‘fresh’ lemonade – now, that’s a good day. 🙂
That it is, Judy, and today’ been good, too–19 lemons!! 🙂
Mmmmm, fresh lemonade. That sounds very good. The flower is beautiful. You’re racking up a lot of new sights, Janet.
Take care and enjoy that lemonade.
I’m going to be making some lemonade for my parents, too, I need to get a couple ice cube trays to start freezing the juice towards the day when lemons are no longer in season.
That’s a good idea
Slacker!
Cheers, D.
19 lemons today, D., and I didn’t carry them either. Slack away, I say!! 🙂
I had to read 17-lemon walk twice before I worked out what it meant. That’s a good haul! We’re more likely to find wimberries or blackberries than lemons. 🙂
🙂 19 today, Susan. I wouldn’t mind finding berries, either, but that won’t happen here. I’d love to find a Cara Cara orange tree that was dropping fruit!
They remind me of jellyfish! They’re lovely. Your walk sounds very pretty. Looking forward to the lemonade!
I found 19 more lemons today, Deborah, so my fruit tray in the fridge is completely full (I do have some organic apples and some ginger in there, too) and the new ones are sitting in a bowl on the counter. Have to start freezing the juice! But I won’t leave the lemons to rot. Just doing my part to pick up “trash.” 🙂
lovely flower, Janet! great find! loving your free lemons 🙂 🙂
You and I both, Iola. I’m going to have to start freezing the juice, I think. 🙂
Gorgeous colors.
Thanks, Janet. I thought so, too.
Mmmmm, I would make a lemon pie, especially if they were Meyer lemons! Maybe lemon marmalade. Lemon curd. Mmmmm….
They’re not Meyer lemons. I may do dried lemon peels and a lemon drizzle cake. Lemon curd sounds good. Haven’t made that for ages.
Much nicer 🙂 🙂
Completely different! One I’d like in my backyard, one not so much, although it would look pretty weird stuck on the back wall (the hand, not the flower.)
Lovely post, and Bougainvilleas are probably my all-time favorite flowers. I had no idea they provided a good hiding place for a bag of lemons 🙂
I don’t think you’ll see anything about being a good hiding place for lemons when you look up bouganvilleas online. But take my word for it, it works. 🙂
Thanks for dropping by.
janet
Sure, no problem! 🙂
gorgeous flowers
I fell in love with them. There are lots of them in our area.
🙂
