Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragonfly
Hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky. ~Dante Gabriel Rossetti

I suppose I should just leave it as is–a beautiful dragonfly and a lovely quote. But that dragonfly’s little head looks to me so much like that of a demented alien bent on taking over earth that I can’t resist mentioning it. And now you’re going to see it forever, too. (Demented laugh.) In this case, I was fortunate enough to escape its evil clutches. Happy Tuesday. 🙂

I think at the moment the Dragonfly is likely to decide earth isn’t such a wonderful trophy, he’ll leave us to clean up our act before seriously considering a takeover.

Um, thanks Janet. It does resemble a head from a movie I watched recently.

  3. Love the photo and the quotes! Thanks for sharing. Greetings from London.

Great photo in spite of the alien creepiness factor.

It’s beautiful – both the dragonfly and the quote! And sorry but nope – I refuse to see the Alien head. 😉

  6. They do look like alien invaders, but they’re mostly cute. This one is very serious! Great shot, Janet!

    • You’d be serious too if contemplating taking over the earth!! 🙂 I was waiting for a small bird to come back to its nest when I caught sight of this guy from the corner of my eye and diverted the camera. He obligingly stayed right there.

  7. It is absolutely stunning!

Yep; can’t un-see that. Great shot though!

    Dear Janet,

A lovely picture of a lovely creature. They lived far longer underwater as alien creatures to be afraid of than the one month sojourn in the light as fantastic fliers and equally deadly killers. In prehistoric times there were truly huge ones zipping around eating everything they could get their mandibles around. Good catch and quote.

    Cheers,

    Doug
