Besides beautiful old buildings and doors, Pasadena has classic gates. Let’s take a quick look.
“There are so many doors to open. I am impatient to begin.” –Charlie Gordan”― Daniel Keyes, Flowers for Algernon

“Either you enter the interesting gates and experience interesting things or you stand behind the gates and sit cowardly!”
― Mehmet Murat ildan

Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up someone. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

for Thursday Doors
I love gates not only because they are their own unique class of doors, but their craftsmanship makes you stop, look, and admire. 🙂
I agree, Judy, although not every gate is this attractive.
Oh – loved the gates you photographed. The quotes were very true. A very nice post indeed. If we don’t walk through the gates and explore, we will miss some wonderful adventures.
I do love a beautiful gate, whether the sometimes decrepit ones I’ve seen in France or these beauties. Glad you do, too, and enjoy your day.
😊
Lovely gates.
Thanks, Teresa.
Great craftsmanship!
I agree. 😉
😊😊
The last gate is different from any I’ve seen before. I like it, so beautiful.
That one was at a beautiful church.
beautiful gates!
Thanks, Lola. Have a wonderful Thursday.
I love gates even more than doors, I think, and I especially enjoyed the quotes you pulled to go with these.
Glad you liked both, Madison. I like the ease with which you can find quotes via the internet.
All of them are lovely. There’s a craftsmanship and artistic ability that goes into iron gates like these that I find is generally under-appreciated. It really isn’t easy and takes a long time to learn how to do this type of work.
Thanks for sharing these 🙂
I enjoyed finding them, Norm, and sharing them is a big part of the fun.
The gates are beautiful, and I love the Letter Box at 110 !
Such craftsmanship on display. Iron gates fascinate me.
I knew you and Norm would especially appreciate these and the workmanship involved. I really like letter/mail boxes like these, even though they wouldn’t look good everywhere. Here a number of boxes are together in a large metal box along the street. We have a key to unlock our box and get the mail. The mailman only has to get out and fill the boxes rather than stop at each house.
I worked for the Post Office when I was in college. I remember filling those boxes. The mailman’s key opens the whole unit. It makes for short work, that’s for sure.
But less exercise! 🙂
I love your quotes and doors. I think I like Daniel Keyes’ best and the last door, hiding behind tree 🙂
That last gate was part of a beautiful church property, all of which was delightful. Glad you enjoyed the quotes as well.
Oh, I see now 🙂
Had another peek – doesn’t look like they use it anymore.
Maybe one day 🙂
They do still use the church, and so I suppose they still use the gate as well. It was a beautiful church with a lovely grounds. Next time I’m back in Pasadena, I’ll have to try to see it again.
Very well maintained, indeed 🙂
I suppose one would have to stoop to use that gate… And it feels quite fitting since one enters holy ground, I should say.
A lovely place!
Those are beautiful gates, and wonderful quotes to go with them.
Merci, Madame!
😀
Beautiful. I love how dramatic these doors look. That tree on the last one is gorgeous! And I like that quote you chose, also read that book many years ago.
Glad you enjoyed the post. A beautiful gate is a joy.

Beautiful gates and lovely quotes. Have a nice weekend!
Thanks, Brenda. My weekend’s going great. Hope yours is, too.
It’s a very calm weekend which I like. 🙂
The last one is my favourite. Love the design of the gates and the tree in front. Plus it’s set in an arch. Perfect
That makes me perfectly happy, Jean. 🙂
