“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”
― John Muir, The Mountains of California

“Every creature is better alive than dead, men and moose and pine trees, and he who understands it aright will rather preserve its life than destroy it.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

“Never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under!”
― C. JoyBell C.

A very beautiful set of photo series, Janet. Thank you for sharing these quotes, they go perfectly with your images. The last one is my favorite. 🙂
I enjoy finding quotes to go with photos and it’s so easy with the internet, even finding quotes about moose. 🙂 The sunset the night I took that last shot was spectacular and the horses in the meadow was an added bonus. I just kept taking photo after photo and when the sun finally set, I almost staggered back to the cabin from the joy of it all.
Ah, these do showcase summer, Janet!
Thanks, Sue. I’ll be seeing it all again soon, thankfully.
beautiful summer gallery! stunning last photo! 🙂
I was down by the cabin when the sun was setting but I realized I’d get a better view from up higher, so I huffed and puffed (at 7,000’+ that’s easy to do) until I got to the top. It was well worth it as the sunset that night was spectacular.

Love your photos. They are all so beautiful. Loved the moose and the horse almost up to its back in the vegetation growing around. You are a wonderful photographer and have an eye for a perfect picture every time. A+ my friend.
What a lovely thing to say, Peggy! Thanks so much. Sometimes when I’m there and go for a walk, I don’t get anywhere very quickly as I’m always seeing something to photograph. 🙂 It’s a good problem, but not so good for exercise. The horse lying in the flowers was so funny. There were several doing the same thing and each has only to take a bite in order to eat, no problem at all. 🙂
Thanks for telling me about the horses lying down eating. It is hard to trek very far when we have cameras in our hand.
Horses mostly stand to eat, and even to sleep, but the grass and flowers were so high that when lying down, all the food was at mouth height. 🙂
Ah, lovely summer – and horses. And quotes to love. Beautiful, Janet.
It’s my soul’s favorite place, A-C. I’ll be there in under two weeks and I can’t wait. 🙂
♥
I can’t wait for our summer to return, but in the meantime beautiful photos like yours soothe the aching in good measure!
That makes me happy. 🙂 I’m waiting for fall here so that it’s not so blasted hot!! 🙂 Supposed to be 111F today.
My goodness, Janet. Businesses selling and installing air-conditioning must be raking in the money in that weather!
I’d say so. 😉
A lovely visit to the mountains, Janet, enjoyed the quotes and the photos. Fantastic that you were able to capture that gorgeous moose.
Yeah “wearing flowers in the hair”, I’m not bald at all, not even half bald. But in my younger days when I had “german hair” (remember I told you about that hairstyle) then there could be many flowers in my hair. It’s a real shame many people call moose an ugly animal, think it’s a very charming animal – okay a long-leg charming animal. 😀
Beautiful horse, but sure you know that. 😉
I’m imagining you with your German hair and flowers. 🙂 Moose are so ugly that they’re cute and horses, well, they’re all beautiful. 🙂
A comment exactly as I expected. 😀
🙂 I hate to disappoint.
You didn’t. 😀 😀 😀
Beautiful collection of words and images Janet.
Thanks very much, Su. It’s my heart’s home and Lord willing, I’ll be there soon. No internet, but I can’t wait. Or maybe no “but” involved. 🙂
Fingers crossed.
Didn’t think you could improve on the moose Janet, but then I came upon the horse in the flowers. THAT my friend is a stunner!!
From you that’s quite a compliment, Tina! Thanks so much. The horse lying on the flowers is something I’ve rarely seen, so I was happy to get a few shots. They don’t lie down much and especially not on flowers.
I’d hang onto that one for the next big photo contest Janet!
A lovely set showcasing your summer, Janet. You look like you got very close up to Bullwinkle.
Telephoto, but he wasn’t too far away. I try not to get too close to any moose.
Oh, you’re wandering through some memories and the result is this beautiful post that makes us all smile. 🙂
Yes, wonderful memories. I get to make some new ones in less than two weeks. 😉. I’m happy you enjoyed these.
This is a very beautiful post, Janet, thank you!
You’re welcome, Cee. Glad you liked it.
Cee?
Ooops. I was looking at the wrong comment when I responded. Picture me abjectly apologizing, RESA!! 🙂
No need to apologize! Lol! though maybe I was getting a cool new nick name! Cheers!
Wow, Janet. A gorgeous gallery. I love the moose! Even though I am living now in NH again, I’ve never captured one (digitally). They are massive creatures!
Most years we see them when we’re in Wyoming. Usually a few of them like to eat the bushes around the lake and streams and sometimes swim in the lake. It’s always something we look forward to seeing.
I am sure.
[…] of This, That and The Other Thing includes a horse in a beautiful flower meadow among her summer […]
Janet, what a beautiful … summer you share with us. The horse and sunset … and the horse in the field – stunning.
Thanks very much, Viveka. Always love to “see” you around. Thanks for stopping by and enjoying one of my favorite place in the world.
Janet, it is always nice and very welcoming to land in your space. Always a pleasure. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I will pop around soon again.
I’ll look forward to it. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy. ❤
The same to you!!! *smile
Yes, yes, yes!! Let’s dance with wildflowers in our hair, stop everything to watch the sunset or sunrise, and climb the mountains to enjoy their good tidings! There in those three quotes are the words that I feel when out in nature and I never can find the words to describe how I’m feeling or felt.
Let’s also dance when there’s a great song on the radio and belt it out! I sometimes have an urge to get out of the car and dance at red lights when there’s a great song on but have resisted the urge to do it…so far. 😀
I’m glad I could find words for both of us, Deborah. I sometimes rock out a bit on the van when something good is on either radio or cd and I was always moving singing while we were singing our praise songs at church. 🤭😉🥰
All your photos are crazy good, but I love that moose! I’ve never seen one except in photos, and this one is as good as it gets. Hope you’re staying safe.
Thanks all around. I’m sure it will be a good time and you’ll get to see all the pictures when I get back. Well, maybe not all the pictures. 😁

If you’re anything like me, you have plenty of pictures from which to choose!!!
