I believe it’s a green heron. At least that’s what it looked like when I looked on Cornell’s website (which is wonderful.) I think the tri-coloreds are larger. But I’m not a bird expert by any means.
Good thing I went fishing in my spam folder, Teresa, for you somehow ended up there with 21 Spanish spams. I’ve had the same spam messages hundreds of times in the last several months Sigh. Thank goodness WP catches them. Anyway, thanks!
Oh that is good you found it. That was what i was telling Norm. His comments always ended up in spam week after week. Thanks and have a good day, Janet.
Thanks. The original photos were rather dark, so I lightened them until I got the actual colors of the bird. It was early morning and the sun wasn’t in the best place. π
great photos !
Thanks. β€
Thanks for sharing these great photos.
My pleasure. Thanks for stopping long enough to comment as well as “like.”

Such fantastic photos. Love that bird going after his breakfast or lunch.
He just kept getting further and further over. I was amazed at how he could stay on that branch, reach in, and come back up!
Yes, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be as flexible as that bird.
Beautiful series of photos Janet!
Thanks very much, Aletta.
Beautiful images Janet but the capture of the bird actually dipping in along with its reflection is particularly amazing!
I was astonished that it could do that without coming off. However, if you look closely at the feet, they’re pretty impressive. π
Beautiful!!!!! Is it a tri-colored?

What a great series, Janet! I love the progression and the final shot.
Thanks, Patti. π It brought a big smile to my face. What an acrobat! Glad I don’t have to go through this for my dinner!
So lovely! I can easily see these printed and framed together as a triptych.
I’ve been thinking that as well, Hannah. π
How precarious, Janet! All for a quick snack! Great photos.
It was quite something to see, Tom. How it didn’t fall in is a miracle to me, but then I’m not a heron obviously. π
I am thoroughly amazed. Great photos! How long did you wait for these shots?
Not long. I’d taken the first shot and then very soon he dipped down with his beak in the water. Just in the right place at the right time. π
Fantastic. What good fortune. π
That is was, Rebecca. π
That’s great. π When we are in South Carolina, we enjoy watching the pelicans and seagulls fishing for their dinner.
It’s fun, isn’t it, Judy? The heron family are all so patient until the perfect bite comes by and then the movement is so fast it’s amazing.
What a special series! Beautifully captured. π
Thanks so much, Amy. π
the last photo is magical, Janet! great capture! π
Thanks very much, Lola. π
I love watching Little Green fish! They are very stealthy.
That they are. π Hope all’s well, Cheryl.

It’s only awkward if he doesn’t get a fish.
π Very true. But I’m sure he’d try again.
WOW. Great series. Excellent ‘capture’, as they say.
Thanks very much, John. It was an exciting moment, even more so when I got home and saw the photos. π

Amazing shots! That last one just blows me away.
Thanks very much, JT. π

You as well.
The detail in your photos is remarkable! An excellent job!
Thanks so much!

Great timing, Janet, and beautiful photos as a result. The light looks tricky to focus on a moving object.
Thanks. The original photos were rather dark, so I lightened them until I got the actual colors of the bird. It was early morning and the sun wasn’t in the best place. π
And here I thought this was going to be one of those posts where one announces they’re going on vacay, and won’t be posting for a bit! Neat shots!
It was so much fun watching this happen, Resa. π I already did the vacation thing, although I’m happy to go again if I get the chance.
I love their colors! Good series. Did it come up empty that time?
Not sure because I didn’t get a photo of that, but it also might have been so small that it wasn’t visible.
