Pining away

They have declared this a ‘mast’ year for pinecones. I can personally define that as a pain in my back from picking up hundreds of them from my neighbors’ two gigantic pine trees. It also means pitch falling on anything that is left in their vicinity for more than a few minutes. If I had a craft for sale that required pine cones, I could have a really good revenue. 🙂
Sigh. Since the majority of pine cones I found were in the park in Illinois (like this one) or in someone else’s yard, I was able to enjoy them, but I can see where they’d be a pain, literally, to you. Maybe you should start making the firestarters from them. I think they’re dipped in wax and evidently work quite well to start those lovely fall and winter fires. 🙂

Pine cones has lots of details. I find them attractive. 🙂 This one was in the parking lot of the park in Illinois.

A couple of weeks back I went on a hike and the trail and nearby forest floor were littered with them. I wished I had room in my bag for a dozen! It’s been on my list to go back and collect some for fall.
I find them lovely too. 🥰
The only ones I don’t like are the ones at the stores that are drenched with cinnamon scent and reek to high heaven. 😦

No ice, just an asphalt parking lot. It’s just pining away because it’s a pine cone and besides falling, that’s part of what they do. 🙂
Oh, well, the asphalt looks …. not like asphalt!
Maybe a pine tree will grow out of the asphalt. That would be so cool!
