Thursday doors…garden doors

Three years ago, I visited our daughter in southern California and one day when she had to work, I spent a marvelous day wandering in Descanso Gardens. What a place! The flowers were in full bloom and I even managed to find a few gates and doors. But only this one had a giant rabbit on the other side! Farmer McGregor, beware!

A somewhat ordinary door, but not every ordinary door is guarded by lions!

Fancier gates with a set of double doors behind them.

There’s a door somewhere in here, even if you have to meditate to find it and be a midget to get inside.

    Lovely selection

Ah a great post. I liked the doors. Think my favorite photo is the first one.

I like the variety, and the ending delivered a small chuckle.

  4. Lovely collection this week!

  5. Ally Bean says:

A cheerful collection of doors. I can see why you enjoyed this garden adventure.

  6. Jet Eliot says:

I enjoyed the doors here and the garden, too, Janet. You gave me a smile on that last line of having to be a midget to get into that door.

I don’t know which is scarier: Two small lions or one giant rabbit!

  8. What a magical place. Places to wander and dream are so important

  9. Looks such a lovely place to spend some peaceful time, Janet. That last shot is my favourite.

  10. Dan Antion says:

I love the iron gates. Very special doors. The other photos are also nice. It looks like acc C wonderful place to visit.

  11. Su Leslie says:

Nice! Looks like a great place to spend a day

I like the rich colour of the leaves in your second photo. In my neck of the woods, most of the leaves are gone and there’s a bit of snow on the ground, with minus temperatures.

    • These photos were from March of 2017, but in California, the leaves were very green. Where we are now in Arizona, everything’s different from either southern California or where you are. Unlikely to get snow on the ground here in the Phoenix area although we’d love some rain.

Now I’m getting used to Texan sizes, Californian ones seem smaller and more narrow, lol! Like the giant rabbit, and the even cuter gate! I maybe wrong, but isn’t the last one a Japanese lantern? Have seen them in Huntington Library garden….

  14. Very nice collection on a beautiful sunny day!

  15. restlessjo says:

I like the door for midgets 🙂 🙂 (another 6!)

  16. These are interesting doors. I like the rabbit.

With fall well under way and winter closing in I could use a nice walk in a warm sunny garden right about now. This was the next best thing. Thanks for the tour 🙂
