Tea for Two-sday

Friday morning, with great excitement and a feeling of wild rebellion, I headed off for one of the most annoying 6 1/2-hour drives of my life. First I had negotiate the traffic issues of the Phoenix metropolitan area, followed by a long stretch of not-much-of-anything, and ending with the traffic issues with the Los Angeles metropolitan area. What’s not to love? 😫 But it was a trip during COVID, hence much to be desired and appreciated. 😷😉

One of the highlights of Saturday was a trip to Chado in Pasadena, my favorite tea shop of the area. The city has allowed restaurants to take over part of the street for outdoor seating, so our daughter and I were safely ensconced at our own table for two, enjoying a tea service for two which included two pots of tea, sandwiches, scones (which somehow disappeared before being photographed), and a dessert selection of macarons and deliciously crisp cookies. The weather, company, tea, and food were all perfect. Care to share?

Chado has an enormous tea selection and the website says that until the end of the year, shipping is free!

  1. This such a lovely post. I love the tea sets! 🌼

  2. Ahhhh … and sense your relaxation.

Next time you’re taking me along, Janet.

  4. That looks lovely! What is the hair tie on the lid, handle and spout for? I’ve never seen that done. Does it hold the lid in place while pouring so you don’t need to hold it in place yourself?

Traffic can ruin a day, but tea with a person you love can enhance the day perfectly. Nice post.

Despite the long drive, it looks like you had a wonderful time.

  7. I love tea, Janet! Despite the long drive and Covid you got to see your daughter and have tea at this gorgeous place!

  8. I love teapots. I have two but not as pretty as the two in your photos. I have a floral and a Chinese cast iron one. I feel so much better after a hot cup of tea. A soothing and relaxing beverage.
    Izzy 😎

    • I generally have a pot of tea every day. I have an English china pot, a glass pot for flowering teas, and a cast iron one as well. Chado has a glorious selection of pots, sups, and saucers. Happy Thanksgiving, Izzy.

      • I’m sure you have quite a variety of teas. I know I purchase a large variety. I enjoy trying new flavors. My morning tea is non-flavored like Earl Grey but in the afternoon I enjoy something a little more tasty. ☕️
My next adventure – one day soon – will be a china teapot shop. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family … Stay Healthy … Be Safe … Izzy 😎 🍗 🦃 😍 😀

      • I do have rather a lot of tea. 🥰🥰. But I drink a pot a day, so I use and enjoy them. Happy Thanksgiving to you two as well.

🙂 That looks soooo good, dear Janet!
And I love the tea-pots. So pretty.
Enjoy the time with your daughter and stay safe!
    Claudia xo 🙂

A wonderful tea party, Janet. I’ve never seen the band to keep the lid on, I suspect they’ve had a lot of lids go crashing to the floor. Sounds really fun, thanks for sharing it.

  13. Looks and sounds perfect even with the drive. 🙂

  14. Hi Janet, I’m with you on 2 accounts: I LOVE scones and I HATE traffic in both Phoenix and L.A.! Your photos are lovely, despite the evil drive! 🌞

  15. My Mum comes from Staffordshire the pottery area of England, she loves china, including teapots from Doulton to Wedgewood to Spode. We used to go to the pot banks to roam around the factory shops to buy everything from mugs to teapots so you have brought back lots of happy memories.
    Best wishes
    Charlotte

Ooooo, yes, I WOULD like to share! Failing that, I’m happy to feast visually on that lovely tea service and that lovely food. Thanks for the vacation for my eyeballs.

That looks fab, Janet! I don’t drink tea a lot. However, I had the most wonderful tea experience in Ottawa a couple years back. It’s definitely a tea city! I understand just how amazing a tea and treats experience can be. I remember I had Vanilla Earl Grey. Thanks for the memory!

  18. This is so my vibe, beautiful 🥰
