My first thought for “You Pick It” was to share flowers from my recent visit to Descanso Gardens, but after seeing Tina’s marvelous flowers, I decided to go “white.”
On a two-day trip to Yosemite in March a few years ago, we left on a magical day where we saw clouds filled the marvelous landscape.

Who could resist a shot of this cutie on my first visit to Descanso Gardens? I’ve given it an edit to take out any other colors.
Egrets are the new white in my life.

Light + spider web= white.
And a final whiteout from my first visit to Descanso Gardens. If I lived anywhere near, I’d have a membership and be there at least once a week!

Lovely, Janet! The white clouds over Yosemite is my favourite today, but it wasn’t an easy pick!
I’m surprised we ever got out of the park. It was so beautiful that I kept asking my daughter to stop so I could take another picture. 🙂 It was the kind of beauty that almost hurts your heart.
I know exactly what you mean, Janet. The kind of beauty that makes you realise in the first place that all of it didn’t just “appear”, secondly that, despite our own vanity, we are actually very small in the big scheme of things and thirdly that, despite our insignificance, we are Loved more than we can ever imagine and certainly enough to be given glimpses into a perfect world like that beautiful scene in Yosemite…
Yes! These things didn’t just happen from a speck that somehow showed up. That takes way too much belief!
Oh what a beautiful choice Janet! Your sweet little one is so very precious and I love that you took out the other colors. Your egret reflections are marvelous as well. Loved your response.
Thanks, Tina. I don’t know whose child that was, but while they were snapping pictures, I got a couple as well. It’s funny because egrets at the Preserve are as common as sparrows back in Illinois. I still love them, though, and have rather a lot of photos of them. 🙂
Very prolific here as well Janet. They truly are beautiful don’t you think? Do you also have the great blue herons there?
Yes, a few. We have quite a few black-capped night herons and green herons.
As do we. I guess our climates must be pretty similar. Don’t you just love them all?!
We have virtually no humidity, though. You’d love the Riparian Preserve and all the birds there. It’s quite a blessing. 🙂
Lucky you – ours is crazy humid. My brother is outside of Scottsdale. Is the Preserve near there?
It’s in Gilbert, so probably half an hour or more depending, as everything does, on traffic. I’d say it’s worth a trip. It’s called the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch.
Terrific, next time I visit him will definitely check it out, thanks!
Next time you visit, you’d best let me know! I’ll meet you there.
It’s a deal!
Looking forward to it.
I like your take on this week’s theme (and not sure if you saw her post yet – but Rusha went with a white theme and I think this is a cool way to approach a post and nice to see your and hers so diverse and so creative on the same topic of white)
And back to your post-
The baby photo from the side added interest and the egrets lined up like that – tail to tail – what a nice almost symmetrical vibe
I did see another “white” post, although I don’t remember who did it. Probably her. It would be odd if there were three. 🙂
well my post is going with white – hahah – I will link ya when it is up – and I just had to make it three – and at the end of the week I will be curious to see if there are any more (what is your prediction?)
Not sure why “white” would be so popular, but we’ll see. 🙂 Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Hi Janet – we did – four of us and so like many folks – it was quiet and all nice 🙂
[…] Lens-Artist photo challenge theme is “Pick Your Own” – and after seeing Rusha and Janet both go with a “white” theme- and they both had such diverse takes, I decided to go […]
Gorgeous picks!
Thanks very much. 😘

You’re welcome ❤
Beautifully done, Janet! From start to finish 🙂 🙂 Happy Sunday!
Many thanks, Jo, and I hope your Sunday’s been grand.
Sunshine and showers, Janet. We almost made it home in time to take the washing in this morning 🙂 🙂
Sigh.
Great take on the post, Janet!
Thank you. 🙂
😊😊
Lovely, and I especially smiled at the little person on the blanket.
I sneaked in a shot while her parents were taking theirs. 🙂
Very nicely done, Janet. I find white hard to photograph well. You made it look easy.
Thanks very much, Dan. I hope your Sunday’s off to a good start.
Love this white theme, and since I did this as well, it’s interesting how we chose different things. I’m fascinated by the spider web — so delicate yet so clear. A very good image to frame. But so is that precious child. If I were the mom, I’d love to have that one on my bedroom dresser. An excellent take on this week’s theme.
Thanks. I enjoyed yours as well and Yvette also went with white after seeing ours. It seems odd to me that we would randomly choose the same theme out of all the possible choices. 🙂
It’s odd, but I love seeing various takes on the same theme.
Yes, it can be fun, but it just seems interesting that at least three of us have chosen the same one, two of us on our own.
Oh what brilliant whites you have 😀
Thanks so much, Cee. ❤
The mountain and the little girl, lovely shots!
Thanks, Ritva. The day in Yellowstone was special and the little girl was so cute.
Yellowstone would be lovely place to visit one day.
I’m sorry. I meant to say Yosemite, not Yellowstone. Both are wonderful but entirely different.
Well i would love to visit there too😀
Great choice, Janet! I love this white series. All are beautifully captured.
Many thanks, Amy. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
What a gorgeous collection, Janet. That little girl is precious! The egrets and the spider web are lovely. That’s a great idea to focus on one color. Love it!
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Patti. After I posted mine, I saw that another person had chosen “white” and then Yvette liked them both so much she choose the same theme. 🙂
Great photos, excellent selections. Very well done.
Thanks, John. Always good to hear from you.
Sensational, Janet! I can’t pick a fave, as they each stand out in their own way.
So, being as that I’m in one of those silly moods today, let me ask….Did anyone post a pic, or pics of noses?
Ha! No, not that I saw. But that would have been funny. Does the fact that you asked make you nosey. 🙂
Hahahaha! In this instance, I thinks not. However, I could pick another instance where I could be very nosy.
What outstanding beauty! Lovely choices in white, Janet. My favorite (all of them) must be…Yosemite. I understand why you coud hardly leave!
It was one of those magical days you can’t anticipate but also can’t believe.
♥
