Descanso Gardens again. Even in November there were flowers. Of course November in southern California isn’t December in many other places, but it that made it even more of a joy to see. It was UPlifting.

They’re lovely, aren’t they? About now we should have the wild white ones lining the country lanes š š
That must be beautiful to see, Jo.
Wow an Iris in the wintertime – beautiful.
There were also roses blooming although most of the other flowers weren’t out yet. Southern California winter is quite different. š
Stunning to see, I feel uplifted too
The first time I visited the gardens, there were more flowers blooming, but that made what I saw on this day even more precious, as elsewhere things weren’t blooming. Plus I love irises, so this little beauty hit the spot.

It’s so nice to see something green. Very nice work, Janet.
I saw a green plant by the canal yesterday and immediately took a photo. I think it might have been an enormous dandelion, but it was green!! š
I understand.
Oh, yes these would lift my spirits too. They’re lovely. I won’t be seeing anything like these in gardens for months yet.
I wasn’t sure what we’d see at the gardens in November but was happy when we reached the rose gardens and roses and other flowers, including this little one, were blooming away. My other visit was when everything was blooming, which is even more spectacular!
It pays to keep going back to places doesn’t it. Each visit brings different delights like this beauty.
If I lived there, Iād have a membership.
Gorgeous, Janet. Enjoy the weekend! š
Thanks, Lisa. You as well.
Rich, gorgeous purple/yellow color. Beautifully captured, Janet!
Flowers are always such a joy, especially in winter. I remember that was the most striking thing when I first visited Hawaii in January… I was stunned by all the flowers blooming, everywhere you turned. How I miss travel.
I’m with you on that, Hannah. I always looked forward to the first primroses at the farmers market in late winter. They were such a burst of color in the house. I can only imagine how amazing Hawaii must have been. Even better than southern California or Arizona, where we really don’t have that many flowers.
Beautiful. I love irises, and am ever-hopeful mine might eventually flower.
There was an older man near us in Naperviile who had the most glorious irises. One of ,y all time best blog posts was a photo of one of them. When he passed away, his family dug them all out. I was so sad.
That is incredibly sad ā and(without knowing the circumstances) seems a bit disrespectful.
Perhaps they sold the house and the new owners didn’t know about it. I’m not sure. But the irises were in the tree lawn, between the sidewalk and the street, and they were just gone. He also had a small vineyard in the back and a large garden.
A vineyard! Very cool
A small one but prolific.
That’s one beautiful Iris! Or is it 2? Lovely shot, Janet!
Just one, small but mightily beautiful. š
