I rather thought it looked like a face as well. 🙂 Not beautiful but certainly interesting (and that use of interesting is why when someone says my post or photos are “interesting”, I often wonder whether that’s a compliment or not.) 🙂
That’s true and different cultures and different eras define beauty and ugliness differently. But for today, these three were as close as I could get to a possible universal agreement. 🙂
We try to see the beauty in something ugly. And we usually find it and are glad.
We also try to find the ugliness in something (or somebody) that is beautiful. And we usually find it. Then we gloat and sneer and are doubly glad. lol
Some things are so ugly that they’re cute and some are just ugly. People often do try to find the ugly, physical or otherwise, in those they envy or dislike. I would have like to have photos of people engaging in ugly behavior for the challenge but, perhaps thankfully, I don’t have any of my own.
An interesting collection for the theme!
Can I beg an identification for each? I’ve looked and looked for a while, but can’t seem to figure them out, especially the 1st and 3rd … the 2nd is some sort of sea urchin?
I don’t really know what the first one is. The second is a small section of a cactus with all the spines and the third is some unknown splash of something on the path. 🙂
No ! Natural ! Solid ! Real !
🙂 It was the best I could do for ugly. Something could be naturally ugly, right? I guess as with beauty, ugly is in the eye of the beholder.

The more I look at that first one, the more its face comes to life. And it certainly wouldn’t win a beauty contest.

I know what you mean. It’s the bit I hate about all online media – so hard to both send and receive a message with the intended meaning
But interesting.
🙂 True.
Ugly is a human perception – and thanks for bringing us its beauty and intrigue.

😊
Going to watch where I step from now on.

We see enough ugly behavior on the news . ;( (and while shopping for groceries)
What is no 1?
I don’t really know. Perhaps it was the covering of some sort of nut or large seed?
Okay😊
is it a “gall”
I don’t know but not knowing could be galling. 😁
hahahaha
I don’t see ugly, but neat-looking things or creatures. Cool sightings actually!
Except for maybe that splat in the last shot. 🙂 The other two really are interesting, but they’re as close to ugly as I could get. 🙂
That splat looked like a fossil insect to me. Not ugly at all just interesting. 🤣
🙂
Have you seen the latest discovery near Pompeii? I think you’ll like this!

I hadn’t seen that. It’s really cool!
And they may find lots more now that they’re in a new area. 🙂
That would be cool!
janet – all three have the ugly quality
and then can have something beautiful too
nice trio to put together – synced so well
Glad you like them, Yvette.

Wow! image puzzles!
Nice try! However, your shots are interesting & therefore quite lovely. Okay #3 borders on ugly.
🙂 That was a close as I could get, but the splat is fairly ugly.
[…] Janet at This, That and the Other Thing […]
I won’t argue with you, Janet.They’re all ugly. 😯
And in this case, that’s a good thing.
