“Natural light” is this week’s theme, one that’s right up my camera lens. I’m enthralled by light. As a morning person who feels that if I didn’t get walking before sunrise I’m running late, I have lots of sunrise photos…so I’m going to avoid those. Those of you who follow me have seen lots of them in various posts. Let’s go with something different, something smaller than grand vistas, which have already been done beautifully by our hostesses.
I’ve shared this photo before, but it’s one of my favorites for showcasing natural light.
“May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
Light in Descanso Gardens, California.
“O, Sunlight! The most precious gold to be found on Earth.”
― Roman Payne

“We went down into the silent garden. Dawn is the time when nothing breathes, the hour of silence. Everything is transfixed, only the light moves.”
― Leonora Carrington

“My first memory is of light — the brightness of light — light all around.”
― Georgia O’Keefe
Since I held off on sunrises, let’s grab a Wyoming sunset to close.
Your opener is the show stealer, Janet. A truly beautiful moment 🙂 🙂
That one made me quite happy when I saw how it had turned out. 🙂 A good Monday to you, Jo.
I loved your picture of the milkweed pod, Janet. Great lighting!
Thanks!
A truly magical set of magic light moments. The deer and the rabbit – simply fabulous.
Thanks, Tish. It’s a shot I could never have imagined and I was just thankful I had my Nikon that day and not just my phone. 🙂
At moment to treasure all ends up.
I love the deer and rabbit in the light, and also your milkweed pod, Janet
Those two shots are sort of at opposite ends of the spectrum, aren’t they, yet both special in their own way.
They certainly are!
No words can really describe the beauty of nature that you have captured. I love everyone of these perfect photographs.
Thanks so much, Peggy. 🙂
Love the variety of the collection – but I wonder what the conversation was between the deer and the rabbit.
Pretty sure at least from the deer’s POV it was, “If that person moves, we’re out of here!”
Wonderful post Janet. For me the simple beauty of the milkweed pod in the light is the star of the show.
Glad you enjoyed them, Tina. That milkweed pod was right by our front porch in Illinois and one day the light was just right, so I grabbed my camera and started shooting. I love milkweed pods anyway but the light really enhanced the loo.
These are so lovely, Janet. You did an excellent job with the theme!
A hearty Monday morning thank you, Dan. I hope your week’s off to a good start.
What a beautiful natural light collection, Janet! The first image, magical indeed! The light on milkweeds is priceless and the Wyoming sunset stunning.
This challenge was a challenge, Amy, because I love capturing light. I’m glad you enjoyed my choices as I did yours. 🙂
Whoa!
This is quite a treat for the sore eyes, Janet. Especially that close up of milkweed pod 🙂
Aren’t milkweed pods beautiful, Hammad? And they stay beautiful as the seeds come loose and float through the air, although I suppose if they take root all over your yard, you might not enjoy them as much. I always left some for the butterflies, but they have a tendency to multiply easily!
They are certainly beautiful and I do agree with your point about their abundance in my yard 🙂
Excellent. Love that first one. Special.
Good Monday morning, John, and thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you enjoyed the shots. That first one is dear to my heart…or maybe deer to my hart? 🙂 Ha! Have a great week.

😂👍
Outstanding photos
Thanks so much! ❤

The stag and sunset are my favorites in this collection. Oh, they’re gorgeous, Janet!
Thanks very much, Deborah. ❤
Lovely images. Love the one with the deer. The light is perfect.
That “tunnel” looked inviting in all sorts of weather and light but this was a special moment.

Can I just say that you and your camera nailed this one. Impressive shots, Janet. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much, Judy. Much appreciated. 🥰
That opening shot is good enough for a remake of a Disney-movie! What a beautiful, beautiful image that is, Janet.
Thanks so much, Dries. ❤
Janet all these images are outstanding… however, the one that captivated me was the milkweed. The light illuminated the silky seeds and transported me back to childhood memories of a milkweed field near the home where I grew up in PA. ~Jane
Jane, I agree that milkweed is captivating, in all stages, I think. Even the pods in winter have a beauty.
Hi, Janet. I love these. Your image of the deer and the milk pod are especially stunning. Lovely!
Good morning, Patti. Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you liked the photos. The deer is certainly one of my favorites. Enjoy your day.
You, too, Janet.
I love that first image, its dreamy, otherworldly feeling. How wonderful to have that image for ever. And the pod with its magical lighting. A beautiful post.
Thanks so much, A-C. ❤
I agree with Leya; the first photo is extraordinary! 🌞
I have four photos that were taken right after one another. The first shows just the rabbit, the second the doe is just entering from the side, the third one is this, and the fourth has neither deer nor rabbit. 🙂 I was quite excited with how it turned out.
Fortune shined on you more than usual that day, Janet! 🌞
That it did!
Exceptional photos, Janet!
Thank you kindly, my friend. 🙂
Lovely photos all around Janet! The milkweed pod is my favourite!
Thanks very much, Aletta. Milkweed is infinitely beautiful.
😊
Commented on this one earlier Janet but had to stop by again to give you a smile re your bones on Frank’s post! They did give me quite a smile this morning so thanks for that!
Thanks for taking the extra time to come back and comment here as well, Tina. The first bones and the skull are right by our cabin in Wyoming. When you’re in the mountains or really anywhere in nature much, you tend to find bones, part of the natural cycle of life. I’m happy they gave you a smile this morning. Enjoy Thursday!

Lovely images, Janet! 🌞
Janet, these are all lovely choices. My favorites are the deer in the meadow, the milkweed and the riparian narcissistic swan. All are beautiful, how could I not love the blossoms and the red sun? Well done, my friend! 🙂
Thanks, Marsha. I have the same problem trying to decide which photos I like best, either of my own or someone else’s. But I’m glad you liked them all. Just FYI, that’s an egret, not a swan. Haven’t seen any swans at the Preserve, although I did see a pair the last year we were in Illinois.
I hope your weekend’s off to an excellent start.
I get them mixed up. I wondered about that after I wrote it. I’m a neophyte bird person! 🙂
I’m a advanced beginner, but as the place I like most to walk is an outstanding birding area, I’m learning and of course taking zillions of photos even if I don’t always know what bird it is. 🙂
LOL I think you have a ton of birds where you are. We saw a road runner the other day on our walk, but he didn’t want to stay and pose. Too many places to go. He dashed off while I turned on my phone. 🙂
My husband’s seen roadrunners while riding his bike but the only one I’ve seen was in a parking lot!
This little guy that I missed was on the Peavine Trail in Prescott.
A better choice than being in a parking lot. Did he say “Meep, meep?” 🙂 Did you see a coyote after him?
Not a “meep” out of him. 🙂
Am I correct in remembering that you recently moved to Prescott or am I confused?
Yes, we moved in November to Prescott. Great memory, Janet.
The pictures of deer between trees and white flowers are quite beautiful!
Thanks, Edward. 🙂
