On my Monday walk, you had a chance to see one of the multi-million houses we saw while out walking in Manhattan Beach, California. The area of Redondo Beach where our daughter and her husband live doesn’t operate on that scale even though the prices of homes in California will surprise you and not in a good way. But there are plenty of lovely homes that are on a more human scale. I spent some time walking around the neighborhood looking mostly for doors and flowers. Here are my first examples of the former.
Our Door Master these days, Dan Antion, hails from the Northeast where he’s retired but managing to keep busy in a variety of ways other than just hosting Thursday Doors. Head over to his blog to see doors from all over the world. You can get there by clicking on the highlighted link just above this paragraph.
First image with the round tower is interesting
There were many interesting and attractive houses there. That entryway was unique.

I agree with Sue π π
And I agree with both of you π

Beautiful photos. Love that first picture. Everyone has such neat and beautiful areas arounfd their homes.
There were lots of beautiful flowers and yards, Peggy. I enjoyed walking there so much.
Beautifully done, and I love the variety in your collection!
Thanks, Frank. There was a lot of variety there.
I really like that first house. The curves, the arches, the roof, the windows and that lovely door are all in such perfect proportion. It fits together so well. It’s an example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. The second door is a wonderful wooden door.
The first one was a bit like a mini castle. π. I liked the variety of house styles (and doors, of course.). We donβt have much variety of either here, so that made it more enjoyable.
That first photo of the house and the garden and the door! Wowsa. What a way to live.
This is a manageable size, not like the gigantic beachside properties I showed a few days ago. Still expensive because itβs California, but on a ore human scale. The entryway on that first one is so different but everyone in this area had lovely gardens.
Beautiful, especially the first one.
Thatβs the clear favorite today and itβs easy to see why.
Such character and creativity! I love all that unique architecture. I’d be so happy to call any of these places home.
If only they weren’t in California. π
I like the first house with the cottage feel and what looks like a nice garden too. Great finds, Janet!
They all seemed to have swoon-worthy gardens, creating garden envy in a serious way. π
They look great, the first is a favorite with me too.
It certainly looks classy, doesn’t it?
Looks like a lot of interesting stucco work in that part of town.
There was but much more than just stucco as well. π
Mmmm, you found the chocolate house! π I love this trio.
Thanks so much, Manja. π

That first house is lovely – looks like something out of a fairy tale. You should’ve knocked to see which Princess answers the door. Snow White? Rapunzel? Cinderella?
It really does look like something from a fairy tale. We’ll have to leave out Rapunzel because there’s not enough room to let down her long hair. But perhaps one of the others? π

I love that little porch, so welcoming. (K)
I do like a nice porch as well.

Hi, Janet, I love the way Nature embraces these homes. We should all be so fortunate! Thanks for sharing! π
Glad you enjoyed the gardens, Lisa. They were just wonderful and I wallowed in them (figuratively, not literally of course.) : -)

SQUEEEEEEEEEE! That first house!!!!!! Pardon me for a hour or two while I daydream.
Take as much time as you need, Marian. π I was doing a bit of dreaming while I was there, mostly about gardens that I wouldn’t be able to grow in Arizona.
Nice doors,Janet! That first home is A+++++
π And waaay out of my price range no doubt.
Me too! I only have a price yard.
Ha! Good one. What about a price range of the stove sort? π
You mean barbeque?
Just a “price range” joke with the different meanings of range. Never mind. :=)

Some nice doors and rather curious architecture. I look forward to seeing more.
I’m sure you’ll be seeing more. π

No cookie cutter houses for the Thursday Doors bunch! π These were lovely!
That they were and I’m glad you enjoyed them. π
pretty doors
Thanks, Tanja, and the gardens aren’t bad either. π
