Last year on my way home from Wyoming, I came to a halt just before heading down the mountain. I was at about 7,000′ altitude with a view from this spot that normally seems to encompass the entire eastern side of the state. However, this morning it looked as if cotton had filled everything as far as I could see with an astonishing beauty.

that’s an incredible view – it does look like cotton
With the clouds and the sunshine it was a sight to cherish.
That is an amazing sight, Janet.
It was a wonderful way to start off the trip home. I’m never happy to leave and this made it much more bearable.
It is so beautiful!
It really was. 🙂
Amazing sight. I’ve only seen clouds like those when in an airplane way up high in the sky. Beautiful photo.
That’s what it reminded me of as well, those days when the plane takes off in gloom and then suddenly breaks through into glorious sunlight.
Wow, what a sight! I did see something similar once but it was at dawn, not during the day – in rural Italy 🙂
This was just after dawn because I leave quite early but beautiful no matter the time of day.

You were almost floating on the clouds yourself!! It’s beautiful!!
It was an amazing sight, just like being above the clouds in a plane. 🙂
An amazing sight, usually only seen from an aeroplane. Clouds look so solid from above.
They do. It’s rather funny.
Wow… what an amazing sight, Janet! Thank for you sharing. 🙂
We only had one afternoon, a full day (with rain in the afternoon), and had to leave in the morning but with clouds everywhere, it was gorgeous and took us quite some time to get out and away as I kept want more and more photos. 🙂
Stunning!
I’m so happy to see this gorgeous image.
I hate driving through mountains.
It’s like flying. I did a lot of both, then one day decided not.
Although I won’t say never.
I don’t mind but this time our older daughter was driving and all I had to do was to keep telling her to stop so I could take another photo…and another…and another…and. Lucky we got back to Pasadena!
LOL!!!
Great photo, Janet. Looks like you could dive right in for a nice fluffy landing! John
It does, doesn’t it, but as “they” say, appearances are deceiving. 🙂 Thank, John.
Breathtaking 💛
Thanks! That’s it exactly. 🙂

Soaring above the clouds is a wonderful sensation!
It truly is. 🙂
What a beautiful view 🙂
I love the view even without the clouds but it was certainly special that day.
Mountains, clouds are gorgeous in nearly all weather
I agree.
Unfortunately we don’t have them in Finland big mountain, arctic hills in the north
