This tree provided contrast to a large group of flowers found along the back paths at McDowell Forest Preserve while I was back in Illinois a few months ago.

Jude, this blue‘s for you and Cee, here’s my FOTD (flower of the day.)

“I need the shade of blue that rips your heart out. You don’t see that type of blue around here.”

    Nice blue, Janet!

  2. Heyjude says:

Lavender blue? Let’s not get into that. Nice photo and flower with the contrasting yellow stamens and a visiting hoverfly. Thanks Janet 💙

I am reminded how much time I have spent arranging and rearranging flowers in a vase. ;(

Nature does all the arranging without a thought. 😉

  4. Lovely images, and quote, Janet! The quote resonates with my soul. I’ll have to remember it!

  5. … and the yellow and blue are on excellent combination.

“A shade of blue that rips your heart out”

What a wonderful line. Great photos, too, of course.

I was walking along the Prairie Path yesterday and after a a couple of weeks of rain the foliage is lush. Gardens, trails, anything green is growing and green or yellow, orange or whatever color it is to be! Summer is in full bloom. Stay safe and well. Peace.

    • We finally had some rain here in Arizona and it feels lush outside, although definitely NOT in the same way and to the same degree as in Illinois. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting as well. You stay safe and well, too.

Nice shot of the flowers posing against the tree. Also, lovely blue.

  9. Amy says:

I love the yellow flowers under the big tree, Janet. The blue flowers are beautifully captured.

  10. Whatever that shade of blue is called, it is stunning!

  11. Cee Neuner says:

I saw this come through earlier today. Both of your photos are sublime 😀

This is a blue dreams are made of. A heavenly blue. A star studded blue. I am over the moon in love with this blue. It is perfection Janet. XXX Virginia

    • It is a fantastic blue, isn’t it I’m so happy you enjoyed it as much as I did, Virginia. I hope all’s well with you and yours.

We have begun to return to some semblance of normal. Restaurants and bars are now open with few restrictions. Travel outside our health zones is allowed. My husband and I have both had the two vaccines but continue to wear our masks. Almost everyone is the same. We still have concerns about the variant so better to be on the safe side. Stay safe Janet, cheers Virginia

      • We’ve had our two vaccinations as well but are also concerned about the variant. My husband won’t go to any restaurants, bars, etc. yet so that’s not an issue but we generally wear masks indoors for the same reason.

Both beautiful shots – love how you are combining your #TreeSquares with other challenges. Works so well

    • Thanks for the feedback, Becky. I don’t want to have multiple posts every day because I struggle to keep up with blogs I follow that do 4-5 a day (I just visit one usually) and I don’t want to do that to anyone else. I have a few this month that combine both your challenge and Jude’s in one photo but it’s harder than some of the other combinations. 🙂

    • Thanks very much, Judy. Just wanted to report that we’re having a lovely rain today–at least 2 1/2-3 hours of good steady rain and NO giant winds. A true blessing!

  14. Resa says:

That flower is a stunner. So is the shot.
    What is it?

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
