Here’s the answer to that pesky question of what happens if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it:
“If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it, doesn’t it just lie there and rot?”
― Chuck Palahniuk, Survivor
However in this case, the fallen tree provides a home for some moss and a lovely foreground for these blue flowers. I know we’re venturing into the “is it blue or is it purple” territory but at least parts of these flowers appear to be blue to me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it even though they looked more blue when I was going through the archives.
Beautiful.
Thanks, Judy. 🙂
They rot and feed new generations of beauty
Exactly. Think what the world would look like if they didn’t!
I like your take on it! 💙
Thanks!
You’re welcome!😀
I’m just glad the tree didn’t fall on me….or anybody. 😉
That we know of. I didn’t check underneath it.
It you think that wise. Yes do.
Nice ones, Janet!
Thanks, Sue.
Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favorite authors EVER. I have a feeling your interpretation of the quote is far more lovely than he intended. 😉
🙂 That’s a good thing. I’ve never heard of him but I guess I should look him up at the library and see whether they have any of his works.
Chuck Palahniuk is one of my daughter’s favorite authors, a real treasure when she finds a copy for sale in a book store.
I’d not heard of him before. What sort of writing does he do?
I haven’t read any of his work myself. His bio says he writes “transgressional fiction and side-splitting satire.” I have no idea. His book Fight Club was made into the movie with Brad Pitt. I expect that I would like his work, my daughter and I share authors that we like. I gather his books are rather pricey not easy to find, it is noteworthy when she finds one. 🙂
Nature is so amazing. Effortlessly fighting for life.
Impressive shot!
Thanks very much, Patricia. 🙂
oh this is so lovely – a wonderful Tree Square
Thanks. I thought it turned out well.
very well I’d say!
So beautiful! love it!
I’m glad.
😊
Love the quote. Nothing like a definitive answer to a rhetorical question. Your photo is a gorgeous color.
And we can all agree with the statement…at least I think so. These days who knows? 🙂
Another beautifully composed shot, Janet!
Thanks very much. 😁
The end of something is always the beginning of another thing. Lovely capture 🙂
The flowers were actually growing behind the log, but you’re right. 🙂
beautiful color…if it was a crayon it might be named blue-violet. 🙂
We had lots of friendly discussions about blues and purples in this challenge. 🙂
I read a paperback once called “Gathering Blue.” The premise was the characters were involved in finding sources for blue dye., which was scarce in the fictional story. I’ll see if I can find it.
Lois Lowry is the author of “Gathering Blue.”
