In the mountains, you’re never sure where the rain is going to go. Sometimes it looks as if the clouds are right over you, but it’s raining somewhere else. We got by without having to use rain jackets on any of our rides (but just barely in one) but I usually take a jean jacket which, if it rains, will at least keep off the worst until I get back or get under shelter.
It’s a fantastic view in all weather, although I’d hate to be here when it started seriously storming. 🙂 The clouds look even more dramatic due to the vastness of the view.
Thanks so much, Lisa. It was especially nice as we didn’t get wet. 🙂 Thankfully we did get some rain, which was needed, but not while we were out riding.
We were there one year when everyone had to evacuate because there was a fire quite close. Fortunately it didn’t come our way and it wasn’t anywhere nearly as large as those featured these days, but it was closer than I ever need one to be. Small planes were flying over the one lake scooping out water to dump on the fire. Probably were some fried fish!
I can’t remember the last time I used one. Oh, yes- in the UK! Happy weekend, Janet!
That certainly is strange, Jo. In Arizona we don’t have much use for them either. 🙂
🙄☔💕
And so… did it really rain?
Not while we were riding, thankfully. There was one day later on where we just made it back before it started pouring. 🙂
Lucky you!
great capture, Janet. happy weekend!
Thanks, Wilma. Enjoy your weekend too.
Looks like you mightave. It looked so dramatic and beautiful though. I hope you didn’t get wet, but boy do we need the rain!

We needed the rain there too, but fortunately it tended to rain in the afternoon and I always ride in the morning. 😎
What a terrific photo of the big sky and expansive forest, Janet. I love those sweeping, threatening clouds.

Gorgeous, ominous shot, Janet! 🌞

How wonderful to see a forest that is NOT on fire.
Thank you, Janet!
