Ann-Christine is looking for examples of artificial light in this week’s challenge, which is quite a challenge for me as most of my light is in nature. I’ve trawled through some of my archives to find a few examples to share with you. I hope you enjoy them and have a marvelous weekend. We’re binge watching the Vancouver rugby 7’s tournament today and probably tomorrow as well. 🙂 What are you doing?
My favorite view of a large city, Los Angeles in this case, is at night when the artificial light reigns supreme. This is a view from the observatory.
Light in the chapel in Sedona’s lovely shopping area, Tlaquepaque, reminiscent of some of Europe’s small chapels. If you book early and pay an unknown amount, you can have your wedding here. 🙂
Indubitably artificial light.
I love your image of L.A. at night.
Thanks, Deborah. It was an outstanding view so I’m happy my photo does it a bit of justice.
The only way a city can look pretty. Amazing to see the lights stretch as far as the I can see!
It’s my favorite way to see a city. The view was spectacular but maybe a bit depressing to see how huge the metropolitan area is. 🙂
Love the city lights.
They look amazing at night, don’t they?
LA at night is quite a sight
That it is and this vantage point made is especially beautiful.
Very good
The city lights are just amazing Janet!
It was quite a view, that’s for sure.
it IS hard to find light when you love to be outdoors. Great finds. You do know Chihuly has arrived at the Botanical Garden. He will be there for a bit.
Tickets on sale October 4, exhibit opens December 3. Hurrah! Can’t wait!
What a cool shot of LA, Janet! The chapel and the last image are beautifully captured.
I’m glad I could do justice to what I saw that night. It was breath-taking. I’m happy you liked the other two as well. 🙂
Oh my Janet – that image of LA at night is absolutely magnificent. I’d love to see a big blow up hanging on a wall. Amazing
me also, Tina – would make a Great Wall hanging
Thanks, Yvette.
Thanks so much, Tina. It was a fabulous view and oddly today while watching TV, there was a shot from over the observatory that looked just like my photo except that it was during the day. What are the odds of that? 🙂
Hi Janet – that photo of LA is cool for so many reasons – the lights and the patterns and the colors and the whole vibe
– and not sure I would want to get married in that type of chapel but I can see the appeal
and nice blue photo to end with – the trio of images worked so well together – like you walked us from the busy and beautiful to city to pulling us in with the middle shot and a calming blue to send us off – 🙂
I wish I could say I set it up the way you described it but I didn’t. I did think the LA shot would be the big draw and the blue one is just so different that I wanted to include it. However it worked out, I’m glad you liked them. 🙂

I agree with de Wets – about a city’s looks. And LA looks great in your picture. I also love the blue ceiling! Glad you found some for me – and great ones too!
Thanks very much, A-C! The blue lights were at a doctor’s office and while I was waiting for my parents to be done, I took some interesting shots. It was quite modern.

Excellent. The amount of electricity generated on the planet must be a very phenomenal number.
Thanks, John. I think you’re right about the electricity.

Nice chapel. 👍
Thanks! One of the things I enjoy about France is being able to find little chapels in many places; not so much in the US, so this was an enjoyable find.
Yeah, the french have chapels everywhere. But in Austria, Switzerland, and Bavaria it’s the same. Areas with a catholic population for centuries have this habit
