Like the poltergeist in the eponymous movie “Poltergeist”, I’m baaaaack. 🙂 Actually got back the end of last week but have been dealing with helping-aging-parents things so today’s the first day back on the blog. But first news first: God willing, we’ll be grandparents to a baby boy end of March-ish next year. 🙂 First one for both sides of the family so exciting times. ❤
On the blogging side of things, Jude’s moved to one of fall’s bright colors/colours: “orange”, so here’s my first offering: an apricot tartlet from the newly-opened “Sweet Wheat” in Redondo Beach, California, an artisan boulangerie run by French brothers and it is, as my sister-in-law in France said when I sent her some photos, “a proper bakery.” Don’t hate me if you look at the photos and read descriptions of what they have to offer. The first day I had a wonderful pain au chocolat (“proper name”, no “chocolate croissant” here); the morning I left, this not-too-sweet tartlet. Délicieux!
I also noticed Becky is allowing us crazy retro freedom this month with “Past Squares” as the theme. Several she shared are “bright” and “circles and squares.” This hits “bright” and “circles” so, Becky, you get a tartlet as well!

almost as good as crispy creme 🙂
I am glad you’re back. I’m excited for you for your news and that looks really good 😊
Thanks, Dan. I enjoyed the break and we’re excited about grandchild #1. 🙂 I did miss everyone, though.

We’re just praying for a healthy baby and mom. 🙂

I did notice your absence, and I’m glad it was for such a glorious reason. Best job ever – grandparenting. 🙂
🙂 I thought you’d be excited. I can use the book now, too. ❤
congrats on your news and welcome back –
Thanks for both, Beth. ❤
That looks yummy! And congratulations on the forthcoming arrival 🙂
It was yummy and thanks. 🙂
That looks so delicious – my forehead is all furled up wondering how I can get at one of those!
You either have to go to Redondo Beach, France, or a good French pastry shop. 🙂

Good on both counts, then!
Happy news, Janet! Congratulations! (and yes, we did miss you terribly!)
Happy news indeed, Dries. I thought of you today as I was watching a bit of “Our Planet”, an amazing program which was featuring incredible animal photos including some in Africa.
Can’t go wrong with an Attenborough doccie!
Yay, welcome back to the blog! There are so many happy things ahead… I can’t wait to hear all about it. 🙂
Changes certainly coming but good ones. I really enjoyed the break but I did miss everyone.
