The Lens-Artist challenge this week celebrates the ordinary . But what is ordinary? I think this quote typifies my attitude to what is or isn’t ordinary. But at the end, you’ll find one that fits my aim for my photography.
“Extraordinary magic is woven through ordinary life. Look around!”
― Amy Leigh Mercree
Look down. Even death can be beautiful.
Look forward.
Looks closer.
Look in unexpected places.
Look through a vase.

“Almost nothing need be said when you have eyes.”
― Tarjei Vesaas, The Boat in the Evening
Wowza Janet – I loved all of these and your captions as well. Was the unexpected place a bowl or a glass – and of what? And your quotes were wonderful.
Thanks, Tina. The unexpected place was a Corning 2-cup measuring cup containing liquid ingredients for a recipe. 🙂 You can find some really interesting looking things when cooking!
As for the quotes, as soon as I saw each one, I knew it was perfect for how I feel.
These are very cool photos Janet! I think the middle photo is my favorite, not sure why 😊
Thanks, Lisa. It’s sometimes hard to tell why a certain photo or piece of art appeals to you but I’m just glad it does. 🙂

Judy, I’m not the host for this challenge so you might want to link there. If you click on my highlighted “ordinary”, you’ll get to the host site. 🙂

Back and forth. Back and forth. Impossible to pick a favourite photograph. I just kept admiring each one. Each enthralling in themselves. Each one a story. Thank you Janet for sharing ..
That’s a lovely comment, Virginia. Thanks so much. Blessings on your week.

Beautiful shots, both from nature and the human. That shot from the kitchen is fabulous. I like the pattern of the three immiscible liquids, so common and unremarkable until you pay attention to the pattern they make in the bowl, perhaps every day.
Thanks so much. There are some unique and intriguing shots to be had in the kitchen. 😁

Great flow to this post and I guessed a recipe was in the works with that 2013 photo for unexpected – and then saw your comment to Tina confirmed it 😉
It was and turned out well although I don’t remember what I was making. 😉. Maybe scones.
Mmm – maybe – I think I see vanilla in there
You do. 🙂
Great Ion, Janet!
Not sure what Ion was meant to be, but thanks anyway. 🙂
Oh, great one it should have said!
😁. Thanks again then.
😊😊😊
Beautiful photos Janet. I especially like the first and the last ones.
Thanks, Aletta. Those blossoms make time on the patio even more interesting but they always seem attractive to me. The stems in the vase were fun to find.
That’s great! Beauty in the ordinary
You’ve given us some striking ‘ordinaries’ here, Janet. The gathering ingredients shot is v. fascinating (something mysterious afoot in the universe).
🙂 Thanks very much, Tish. There are fascinating and mysterious things going on in the kitchen all the time, although we tend to take them mostly for granted (and they aren’t all very photogenic, even though the outcome may be.)
It’s all about being on the look-out, isn’t it.
That is so true.
Those are all extraordinary! I love the first flower image. It’s painterly and lovely.
Thanks, Deborah. We get lots of those blossoms on our patio and I always think they look rather nice.
Beautiful examples and directions and especially the last quotation.
Glad you enjoyed them, Manja. The challenge here was which photos to choose because I have so many that would fit. 🙂 Thanks for the visit and comment.
Great shots
Thanks very much, Ritva. ❤
Delightful quotes and great shots – beautiful thinking again, Janet! The last one is a favourite.
I’m happy you liked them, A-C. I saw the vase in our daughter’s apartment and took a number of close ups.
Excellent selections. Very well done.
Thanks very much, John. 🥰
