It may not have been singing in the dead of night but it certainly had something to say! And these birds can say what they say at the top of their lungs.

He’s a splendid looking fella.
And very assertive vocally. They’ll also dive-bomb you if there’s a next nearby and you come too close, whether unwittingly or not.
Love the colours on this bird!
The red really stands out against all that black.
Oh yes! 😊
Gorgeous photography! And your lead sentence is a gem, quoting that lovely song. Well done!
Thanks, Babsje, and thanks for taking time to comment as well as visit.

Red winged blackbird. We do not have blackbirds here in Australia, crows and ravens galore but not the tuneful blackbird.
They may be tuneful but they’re also very loud! 🙂 Thanks for the visit and comment, Andrew. Always appreciated.

Yes. I remember their black brothers. The Rooks are raucous in the early morning. One lived in the tree at the bottom of the garden until a pair of African myners chased it away the are quite sooky despite their size.
A well dressed bird – with the flair of the dramatic. A touch of red is always right!
I agree. I prefer a red hat, but this works for a bird. 🙂
These birds like to squack!
That they do!
Lovely picture!
Thanks very much, JT.
He’s a beauty! Great image, Janet!
Thanks, Deborah.
You’re welcome! 😀
You’re welcome!☺️
He’s obviously quite enthusiastic about the content of his monologue!
And in case you don’t get it the first two hundred times, he’ll keep repeating it. 🙂
😀
Handsome contrast in colors.
Very true. 🙂
When I saw one, it was quiet…good to to know they are talkative 🙂
They do stop sometimes but not often. 🙂
Pretty and noisy. Probably the best way to be a bird!
🙂 Gotta have some fun, right?
Fab shot of a beautiful bird, Janet!
There were masses of them in Illinois. I love that red spot.
