No real Christmas tree this year because without family coming in, we decided for the second year in a row not to have a big tree, leaving many ornaments to languish in their bin in the garage. But we have the nature/bird tree. I’ve been collecting ornaments for this tree, which sits on our sideboard, for many years. We have birds of all sorts, snowflakes needle-pointed by my mom in better days (as well as other ornaments she made), several owls, a glass octopus I bought in a Christmas market in Philadelphia, a cricket from my s-i-l in France, and many others. It’s colorful day and night and gives me joy to see each year.

I love the bird ornaments, and the little bird feeder!! Your nature tree is wonderful.
I only put up my ceramic Christmas Tree this year, no big tree for us either since the kids aren’t coming here this year.
It’s still quite Merry and Bright. πππ₯°
We actually have a small ceramic tree with lights that was in my husband’s family for years. I love the nature tree a lot.
that’s beautiful –
Thanks, Beth. β€
They are a feast of memories, aren’t they?
A delicious feast. π

Indeed! β€
Beautiful. Nothing better than birds in a tree.
I agree, Peggy. π
It’s beautiful!
I thought you’d appreciate a nature tree. π
That is so unusual! Love it Janet!
Glad to read that. π
An understandable decision, and the substitute is beautifully done.
Thanks, Frank. We’ve accumulated the ornaments on it for quite a few years, most of them dating back to when the girls were little. That makes it quite special.
Smiles around
A birdie theme is great. I like your slide show photo. That, too, is great.
Thanks, Ally. Make me happy to read that. π
Beautiful tree, Janet. These ornaments do bring wonderful memories of travels. π
Yes, the memories are such an integral part of the entire feeling and it’s the same for all our decorations. We have so many that we rarely get any new ones but the few that we do are special.
So lovely! I never even thought to have a themed tree. This makes so much sense.
Glad you enjoyed it, Hannah. It’s been so much fun over the years.
Lovely tree! When you were in Illinois, did you ever venture into Chicago for the annual Christkind Market? I found several bird ornaments there when I was living in Printing House Row.
We didn’t, but they had an extension of it in Naperville for two years and we went to that. MUCH closer, smaller (I imagine), and free parking. π
Yes, N-ville is a ways out. Still, glad you had a chance to experience it! I walked, but many couldn’t & thus would have either taken bus, subway or had to park. Happy Holidays! π
Yeah, parking. Yuck! π Have a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you – you, too!
π π βοΈ(βοΈ over your way)
So, you have a stunning little tree! YAY!!!!
Sweet pics, Janet!
I love this small tree and all the nature ornaments, even more so when we don’t have a real tree in the living room. π
[…] Janet […]
[…] Oh, Christmas tree, no, Christmas tree […]
Great idea for a tree filled with special memories! I’m sure it prompts many fun conversations, too! Nice job, Janet! π
Itβs been fun collecting the ornaments and all the attached memories make it even more special.
Hope you had a nice Christmas. We went to Virginia to see my sister but my parents are having a very hard time getting home after so many canceled flights. Wishing you the best in 2022!
Iβve been reading about the flight issues people are having trying to get home. Hopefully theyβll make it home soon and safely. Best wishes for all of you in 2022 as well.
Your bird tree is gorgeous, Janet. I love the birds your mother made – home made is precious. Beautiful to remember. Best wishes for the coming New Jean. Stay safe and well. XXX Virginia
Thanks very much, Virginia. Homemade really is precious and although Mom didn’t make any of the birds, she made all the snowflakes and a few other ornaments. She’s also made each of us a village of needlepoint houses, all sorts of wooden ornaments, and other things. Now that she can’t do anything like that anymore, they’re all the more precious.
Happy New Year to you as well. β€
