Fans of the series “Highlander” as my husband is, will recognize this as the motto and belief of the immortals who are ready to battle to the death because “There can be only one” left to receive the prize. While I’m ambivalent about the movie/series, I do use the line when it fits as I think it does today when “There can only be one” photo because I want to give you time to enjoy the colors, shapes, and imagination of the first Chihuly sculpture greeting anyone entering the Desert Botanical Garden for this installation. When I went to the previous installation, this boat or something similar, was in a small pond found after a lovely wander through more of the exhibit. I loved it both ways but front and center is appropriate as far as I’m concerned.
Just imagine what this will look like when illuminated after dark! I can’t wait!
Hope you’ll Post the after-dark-illuminated shot 😊
I will, although I don’t know how soon I’ll get back as there are family things going on that take priority right now. I may find the one of a similar boat from 2014 and post that to whet your appetite even more. 🙂

I’m glad you chose this angle because it is not only unexpected, it still brings forth the beauty of the piece. How many Chihuly pieces does this place have?
Quite a few and you’ll probably get to see them all eventually. Except for those first three green “trees” at the entrance, they’ll probably all go back once the installation is over unless the Garden has bargained for another piece.
Thanks for capturing the beauty.
Wow! It is beautiful!
Gee you are so lucky to have access to this beauty.
I agree, Andrew, and I’m happy to be able to share it, even if it is a shadow of the actual beauty you’d see in person.

What a perfect first thing to see.
I can imagine that 😄
Chihuly’s work I’ve seen, but the Highlander reference is new to me. Heaven knows when it come to Chiluly there will never be just one! 😉
I guess that’s true and thank goodness for it!
This is so interesting. It must have been stunning in person.
Oh, it was. I did like it on the pond though too, as it’s a boat.
Those Colors!!!
And shapes. 🙂

I can’t wait either!
🙂 It may be awhile before I get back so perhaps I’ll find and post the one from 2014.
Beautiful but I can only imagine how stunning it will be illuminated with a dark back ground.
I’m not sure when I’ll get back in the dark so I may dig out my old photo and post it to give a feel of it illuminated even if it’s not exactly the same. Or maybe it is and I just can’t tell. 🙂
Well, now, isn’t that spectacular. Wow!
🙂 It truly deserves the description of “spectacular.”
Gorgeous. This piece should be front and center.
They definitely got that right, didn’t they?
Yep – got it right.
Beautiful!! Yes, now you have us all wanting to see it after dark! …one of these days you will 😊
I will and when I do, we can do all the outside sculptures again illuminated. 😁
That is one wild explosion of color! Does it make you smile when you see it in real life?
It does. It makes me smile to see my photo of it. 🙂 See?
🙂
Thanks for dropping by, Lisa. I hope all’s well in your part of the world.
