“Not all the wings are made up of feathers my dear. Some are made of glass too.”
― Akshay Vasu, The Abandoned Paradise: Unraveling the beauty of untouched thoughts and dreams
Let’s take one last look at the ultimate group of sculptures on our walk. Notice how the backlighting from the sun fires the beauty of the glass.
“I don’t wish to argue,
whether the glass is
half empty or half full,
as long as what it holds,
is pure and delightful.”
― Akash Mandal
A few grace notes.
“When you look at a piece of delicately spun glass you think of two things: how beautiful it is and how easily it can be broken.”
― Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie
Moving to a different spot adds the interest of shadow.
That ends our tour of the 2022 Chihuly installation at the Desert Botanical Garden of Phoenix. I hope you’ve enjoyed the trip. It’s possible you’ll be treated to some of non-glass sightings in coming days or maybe even a few shots of glass that I didn’t use before. For now, thanks for walking with me and enjoy your Wednesday.
Oh how delightful to see these Chihuly sculptures among the cacti, Janet. Your photos are beautiful, highlighting the light and mastery of the glass art. Also enjoyed the glass quotes. I’m heading backwards to see your previous posts….
Thanks, Jet. If my photos even convey a small amount of the beauty of his work, I’m happy.
You did him proud, Janet. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Thanks, Jo! It makes me happy to read that. You enjoy the rest of your week as well.
I’ve enjoyed the glass photos Janet! So vibrant and shiny amongst the cacti!
The sculptures are a beautiful contrast but still somehow seem to fit.
I agree
Those are beautiful! Like organically-grown stained glass for the outdoors.
They really are marvelous as are all of his creations. Nice to hear from you, Joanna. I hope you’re both doing well.

Thanks, Janet. We’re hanging in there 😉 I’ve not visited other blogs in so long so I’ll have to pace myself 😉 Take care.
A nice treat to see these beautiful creations for the last few weeks.
Thanks Ken & Patty. It’s good to know you’ve enjoyed them so much.
Well this isn’t Ken and Patty – it’s Peggy, but I did enjoy the glass artwork.
I didn’t the that! My phone must have put that in from my my contact list. Weird. Sorry. I know who you are.
I have been getting a lot of messages for other people on wordpress. I think it must be a problem caused by wordpress.
i love his work and these are stunning!
By the time we got through everything of his there was to see, my senses were stunned from the overload of beauty.
That’s a beautiful ending to this series, Janet! They are stunning in the light.
Good morning, Deborah. I’m glad you enjoyed the series. It’s been so much fun to share them and I really like these too.
❤
Such a stunning work of art- It’s positively luminous. Things like this make me wish I could work with glass too.
I understand that feeling!!
What a cool place that is. Love seeing all the different colors and the magic that the sun creates. Do they light up at night? Thanks for sharing!
They’re illuminated at night. I plan to go after dark one of these days and then you’ll get another round. 😁
I have thoroughly enjoyed your Chihuly series. In the words of Billy Crystal, Simply marvelous. … and I marvel at the skills photographers have dealing with and using light. Thanks for sharing yours.
My pleasure, Frank.
Nice and vivid colours, Janet.
Thanks, Tom.
Beautiful photos Janet! And I love that glass-half-full quote!
Thanks, Lisa. 😁
