As we near two years of living in Arizona, the challenge of sharing photos of water is somewhat amusing a/o daunting. Our city averages 9 inches of rain per year and if we have enough that we can’t count the raindrops, we think it’s a pretty good rain. Okay, that’s a little exaggerated, but not much. The most common water I see is in the canal where I walk and although not especially picturesque, canals are the lifeblood of the area.
Water serves a number of functions other than simply hydrating us and everything on earth. Here are a few I’ve found and enjoyed:
Water as power…
Water as nature’s jewelry…
Water as mirror…
Water as home…
Water as food source…
Water as art (a sort of pointillism perhaps)…
Water as beauty…
It’s hard to believe you’ve been there two years 😮
I know.
Beautiful!!! The reflection pic was my fav!!
Thanks, Dee. There are often wonderful reflections there because the water is so still. Appreciate the visit and comment.

Beautiful images in this challenge post. I especially like macro images of water droplets and the birds dunking for food. They are so cute when they do that and you captured their reflections too. Water is definitely life sustaining. I hope you’re enjoying Arizona.
Thanks, Anne. We are enjoying Arizona. My parents have lived here for many years so we’ve visited but it’d different living here (especially during the summer!!) There’s much beauty here although very different from the Midwest where we’ve both lived most of our lives and the mountains, which I love.
Some of Arizona is beautiful and sunsets are amazing. When we went across the country, I missed the mountains the most.
I see more sunrises, being a person who walks on the morning and there are some stunners. But the sunsets can be quite something as well. I love the mountains. Thankfully we go to Wyoming every summer which restores my soul and yearning for mountains. 😉. And although people here think I’m crazy, I also miss winter even while enjoying what passes for winter in Arizona.
Love the art pic
👍👍👍
Sorry about the late reply. I just salvaged you from the spam folder. 🙂 Glad you liked the art photo. 🙂

It’s perfectly OK
No need to say sorry.
In WP we are all sailing in the same boat.
And we are all used to these tricks by AI system.
Once in 10 days (10 th 20 th and 30 th of each month), I check my spam folder for genuine comments .
Thank you Jenet
Beautiful post Janet! Love the water drops!
Thanks, Aletta. I love photos of drops. 🙂
Me too😀
Wonderful collection. My favourite is the reflection of the bird. Is it a crane?
It’s a heron. We’re fortunate to get lots of good reflections because the water is shallow and we don’t usually have lots of wind.
Thank you, it’s amazing!
A wonderful response for the theme, Janet. Lovely images.
Thanks! Much appreciated.

Love all these photos and your point of view, water is amazing 🙂
It’s especially amazing in the desert. 🙂 I’m happy you enjoyed these shots. I love water also.

Beautiful varieties of water images! Excellent selections, Janet. Love the bird captures especially.
Thanks very much, Amy. ❤
Some great, diverse images, Janet!
Thanks, Sue. Glad you liked them.
😊😊
Well Sue, I was enchanted by your exploration of water on this one. I hadn’t thought of it in any of the ways you’ve shown it – wonderful post and I loved all of the images but especially Nature’s Jewelry and water as Art. Terrific response
Thank you kindly, Tina. ❤ (BTW, it's janet, not Sue.) I've always loved shot of water drops and I couldn't resist all the drops in the art shot.

Oops, I’m so sorry Janet. I knew that!!
It’s fine. 😍
Fabulous heron shot, Janet, and I love all those birds with their bums in the air. A concerted effort!
It is funny to see them that way. Ducks are really good at going bum-up as well. 🙂
Hi, Janet. Have you really been in AZ for 2 years!! Amazing. Your post is beautiful and poetic. I love “water is nature’s jewelry.” That’s a great way to phrase it! I just posted a picture of Vancouver, where their rainfall average is 47 inches a year. What an amazing difference in climate with AZ.
It’s hard for me to believe too, Patti. 47” vs 9” is a rather large difference. 😁. I think we appreciate it more.
Very, very special tribute to a resource we humans treat with far too little regard.
I’m taken aback at the profligate use of water in so many places, especially when there isn’t much. I’m happy you liked the post.
Great photos. I love that one of the droplets. Dew on a petal?
Beautiful photos depicting the essence of water. 👏🏻
Thanks, Judy.
Water as pointillism is a cool photo.
Thanks, Ally. Hope your Monday’s off to a grand start.
Gorgeous images showing all the wonders of water! I loved the top one of the water in the creek. It was powerful and flowing!!
GREAT selections, all. Superb.
Thank you kindly, John. ❤

Love your selections, Janet. And nature’s jewelry.
Thanks, A-C. I’ve always loved photographing drops, although we don’t get many opportunities to do so in Arizona. 🙂
♥
But today we’re actually getting real rain from a storm that’s dropping snow and ice on lots of the US.
Ah, much needed where you are then? Storm and rain here as well, but the weekend is said to be sunny!
Yes, always needed. 🙂
Beautiful post, Janet!
Each shot is a gem!
Thanks so much, Resa. ❤
Welcome! Gotta go do stuff. I’ll be back. I’m on Danmsel flies.
Have fun doing stuff. Stuff always needs doing and I should be doing some too.
