Let’s keeping looking for oddities in downtown Chicago. Crown Fountain is a fascinating spot where two 50-foot fountains feature photos of ordinary Chicagoans spitting water at each other. That sounds a bit odd but although not as iconic as The Bean, it’s just another thing that makes the downtown area unique and enjoyable. I encourage you to click on the highlighted link above and read about the fountain.
Here’s bonus, once-in-a-lifetime oddity: today’s date is 2.22.22 or, depending upon where you live, 22.2.22. 🙂
Ah that date thanks for reminding!
🙂 My pleasure. I’m always on the lookout for interesting (to me) things like that.

Glad you share.😁
That is a unique picture of a face on the wall. Ah, I forgot this dare 2-22-22.
The best part is that the face changes every so often and it’s a fountain as well.
Wow – I would enjoy seeint that face change. A fountain too – wow.
Odd, indeed!
But fun as well. 🙂

I LOVE Oddities, Street Art, Fountains, and Sculptures! I need to go back thru my archives and do some posts on my new blog while I was breaking from blogging for 2 years! Thanks for the reminder!
My pleasure, Jennifer.
I’ll have to look for this fountain when I’m there this summer.
If you’re downtown and near the Bean, the Art Institute, et al, it’s hard to miss. 🙂
Cool! Thanks!!😍
The Bean brought me here…as an artist, I look to enjoying your photos with a follow. That’s a very cool piece of building art.
Hi, M. Thanks for the visit, comment, and follow. I hope you enjoy the blog.
Although you can’t tell from this angle, this is a free-standing fountain with a background of faces that changes periodically. The link will tell you more if you want to know but it’s very interesting.

Oh wow, that is one haunting mural. Almost faint enough to miss it, but also clear as day. Chicago is so full of fun quirks like this. Have you visited the Shit Fountain yet? Love that one…
Happy Two-sday!
I’ve never even heard of that fountain but as we’re not in the Chicago area now, it would be a long drive. 🙂 If you’re not behind the trees as I am here, the fountain is very large and you can’t miss it. The background isn’t a mural but rather a changing background of various faces, altogether interesting.
Very interesting mural !
What’s interesting is that it isn’t a mural at all, but changes to different faces periodically. If you follow the link, it’s explained there but I don’t recall offhand exactly how it’s done.
I will do so, thanks Janet!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing that! I have my alarm set for 2:22 🙂
I wasn’t awake at 2:22 AM!
😁
When I lived in Chicago they used to dump green dye into the river every St. Paddy’s day!
They still do but we always avoided downtown that day. 😁
I am adding that fountain to our “must see when in chicago” list
It’s fun and near The Bean.
Thx
PS
I am lad you mentioned the cool date – I audited my post for today to link Ruth’s blog because she noted this:
“Did you know that today’s date is a Palindrome and an Ambigram? The date will read the same from left to right , from right to left AND upside down! Won’t happen again for millions of years. 22022022” ~RuthEH

Great place to tick “getting spat on” off the bucket list… This fountain really is ODD, and who would’ve thought fountains could get any weirder than little cherubs weeing.!?
This isn’t nearly as odd as Manneken Pis although it’s certainly much larger. I did go by to see that when I was there, but still don’t get it. 🙂
Totally neat!!!!
Followed the link, and this is cool!
It really is. I didn’t know about the background until I did the post.
what amazing street art
Chicago has some great street art! The Bean’s my favorite but there are lots of others.
