Thursday Doors…A door, VW door, invisi-door

Much as I love Thursday because it means it’s time for Thursday Doors, it sometimes seems that Thursday comes around more often than every seven days. Of course, it seems the same for all the other days of the week as well. But on Thursday we get to share doors, which is always fun. Today’s selection is the last from my several recent trips to California. The first is from one of the large houses along Manhattan Beach, although I like the attractive but unassuming look of this one as compared to some of the very fancy doors. Doesn’t mean the house isn’t large though. This door is along the street, not The Strand pedestrian path.

Although I understand the attraction of traveling with your own home, ala RV, I never want to drive something that big knowing that the people behind hate me or pay that much for gas. But a “tiny house” like this one could be useful, especially if the top pops up the way I think it does.

Finally, one last Manhattan door, an invisible door of the type that causes animals and small children to come to grief, possibly even the odd adult or two (not that the adult would have to be odd, but…). 🙂 I see I caught the bottom part of someone jogging by as well. Anyway, as I leave, I’ll just remind you of that famous Beach Boys song, “Wish they all could be California doors.” TTFN.

    Eclectic trio

  2. peggy says:

A post of unusual doors mixed with humor and wit.

  3. Dan Antion says:

This is a nice collection, Janet. Of course, I have a song stuck in my head, but a good song. I don’t think I would like the glass door at the bottom. It’s nice, but it reminds me of a shower door. I think I’d prefer an iron gate in that location. Not that I’ll ever have the opportunity to decide 😏 thanks for nice doors an a fun start to the day.

    • I would be with you on the iron gate but I don’t know that it would go with the rest of their set-up. Plenty of other iron gates there though. It does remind me of a shower door. 🙂

  4. The letter A is almost lost on that door. I love the surprise reflection of the runner on the last door. OOF! I’m sure I’d run into that door! 🤣

  5. Wonderful opener followed by a great twist with the second door plus an intriguing, imaginative closer.

  6. Ally Bean says:

I like the door with the ‘A’ on it! I’ll let you guess why it resonates with me.

  7. I can’t get the image of the grief you mean out of my head now. It just replays over and over, and continues to make me laugh and cringe at the same time. I fear I might be one of those odd humans… Love the stucco walls and the solid door in the first pic, and would surely prefer the smaller version of home on the wheels.

    • I like that first one too, although the house would be not only way too big but well out of my price range even if I wanted to live there. The glass door reminded me of the way birds sometimes fly into windows and the several people I’ve known who walked into a glass patio door. NOT fun!

  8. The glass door is interesting!

  9. Prior... says:

I really like that tree in the first image – the curve of the truck adds to the straight lines of the door and house
    🙂

  10. Emille says:

Yeah (smile) time seems to go faster, maybe it has to do with that the year of covid seems so long, and we had no places to go:) Love especially the wooden door, because of it’s rough exterior. Am afraid – if that were our door – he would “have to” finish it!

    • I like that door too and the tree next to it. I never felt that inconvenienced by Covid except for not being able to go overseas, to church, or get together for Christmas. But we were taking care of my parents to one extent or the other the entire time, so I kept fairly busy.

  11. Jane Lurie says:

The invisidoor is tricky, Janet. Love the jogger in the reflection. 🙂

  12. Teresa says:

I like best the door A. I wonder if anybody has crashed accidentally on that invisi door?

  13. memadtwo says:

I think I’ve run into more than one of those invisible doors myself. They are dangerous in interior design too! (K)

  14. LOVE seeing the doors you find. BUT…the van in this is pretty AWESOME!

  15. slfinnell says:

Now I can’t unhear the new song lyrics 😁

  16. Great collection. The first one is my fave, too! 🌞

  17. Fun collection this week. If it weren’t for the price of gas being so high, I also think it’d be fun to tool around in that pop up van.

  18. Wonderful doors. I like the way the tree trunk curves in a photo that is otherwise all straight lines

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
