While in California, we really did do more than just spend time with our new grandson and his parents and I did take photos that weren’t of him…although it was perhaps 50-50 on the photos. We always take walks and as everything seems to grow in southern California, I must have photos of flowers and plants to go with family and doors even though it makes my walks very much stop and go! The start of a new week seems like a good time to enjoy some flowering beauties and quotes to go with them and the first is still one of my favorite flower quotes, even though often used.
“The earth laughs in flowers.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Oscar may or may not be right about the flower, but its blossoming certainly brings us joy.
“A flower blossoms for its own joy.”
― Oscar Wilde

“In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends.”
― Okakura Kakuzo, The Book of Tea

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the mind.”
― Luther Burbank
Lovely! Have a happy week, Janet!
Thanks, Jo, you as well.
Beautiful flowers. I have a t-shirt with the first quote. 🙂
It’s a classic quote and worthy of being on a t-shirt. 😁
I love the Emerson quote the best, I think. Beautiful pics!
There are so many beautiful flowers there that I find myself stopping all the time for photos. 😉
What beautiful flowers, Janet. I miss that in Prescott. We don’t see tons of flowers anywhere. It looks like you had some perfect spring weather and saw some gorgeous gardens.
I miss that here too. We had a lovely time, just four days all told but quality not quantity. 😉
Exactly!
I’ve been noticing flowers a lot more since I’ve been walking Benny around the neighborhood and I started to take pictures too. Fortunately, Benny likes to stop and smell the roses (or the trees or the dirt) a lot :). Great photos.
Walking allows time to look at things at least if people aren’t looking at their phones all the time. 😁. Glad you’re taking time to see the roses. 😉
Beautiful flowering finds, Janet! I totally get the stop and go walks. He-Man’s very patient but, keeps on walking fortunately I catch up because he does slow his pace so I can. 😀
Walking with my husband works fine because he walks more slowly than I do. 😉. My daughters are patient with me stopping for shots of doors, flowers, scenery, etc. ❤️
Gorgeous, Janet! And I love the quotes! 🌞
Thanks, Lisa. I love the ease of finding quotes on the internet!
These flowers are so crisp and clear. I feel I can reach out and touch them 😀 😀
Wouldn’t that be cool if we could do that via the internet and smell them as well? 🙂
The flowers are so pretty.
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Dan. There are so many beautiful flowers in that part of California. It makes me happy each time we visit.
I must admit that I too am in the group of people who’s day can easily be brightened by a beautiful bloom – but only of it is still alive and well on the plant!
I agree that’s the best but I like cut flowers too. 😁
Oh the horror! 😀
🙃
your flower photos and quotes are outstanding (and by the way – I agree with you about starting the week with flowers and some thoughtful quotes and not sure if you have ever seen some of my “Monday morning blooms” posts = but they are some of my most popular posts – and now I can see why – because coming here I feel the enrichment from the quotes and the true joy and beauty from the flowers) – and of course your creative take in this post (because your flower shares do vary) but hey you gave us this centered closeups with a delightful “in your face” kind of feel.
also, the laugh quote really did go with a flower that seemed to laugh – nicely paired quotes throughout 🙂
Thanks, Yvette. I’m happy the post resonated with you. I love flowers and if I were rich, I’d have them in the house every day…and in the yard, too. It’s enjoyable and easy to look for quotes on the internet, one of it’s positive uses. 🙂
Hi Janet – we have a store across town that gets leftover goodies from larger stores – and so it never fails – after big holidays – esp easter and valentines day – they have flower bouquets for five dollars or less. Sometimes one dollar – it depends n how many they get and how old they are.
This came in handy when I made custom bouquets for my neighbors funeral – they still had plenty of the expensive and large funeral type bouquets – but I had time that week and they had so many options – roses and daisies and exotic ones – the vases and foam and wire cost a bit – but it still was a nice price option and Janet – I found it also a creative outlet and was pretty proud of what I was able to do (not ever having been a florist – lol) so it turned out to be special for me and my neighbor (the widow) was delighted – because her spouse that passed always said “too blessed to be stressed” and so I write that on a little chalk board and the stand it was on matched the vase and flowers for that set up.

oh and I know folks say to skip the flowers and donate the money to charity – I am in agreement with this because it can be overkill to have too many flowers at a funeral – but some flowers bring so much beauty and life to lift the mood of coping with a loss
I agree. I would say give the bulk of the remembrance money to a charity or a place that the person really liked but flowers and beauty and are always appreciated.
exactly – “some” flowers but then help a charity
Lovely photos Janet!
Thanks so much, Aletta.
Beautiful shots, and fab quotes to go with the pics!
Thank you, Janet!
You’re very welcome, Resa. If you enjoyed it as much as I enjoy your posts and gowns, I’ll be very happy.
Ahh, thank you, Janet!
That’s a great topic !
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Amy. Thanks for the visit and comment.
