Although I spend a good deal of my photographic life (and life in general) avoiding the mechanical/industrial as much as possible, John’s set us the task today of sharing photos of exactly those things. I accept the challenge. Here are a few I like.

I love these lights at my local Black Rock Coffee shop.

I often walk underneath the street when walking along the canal, much easier than waiting for a break in traffic and then rushing across without getting hit or stranded on the median. One day I saw what I think was an owl flying quickly to the other side as I approached this spot, an intersection of nature and industrial/manmade.

For mechanical, there’s nothing quite like a classic car, even if I couldn’t avoid several selfies in the process.

  1. Three completely different looks at industrial …. and all good … and intriguing in their own way.

  2. Sofia Alves says:

    Excellent examples!

  3. Sue says:

    Love the car, Janet!

  4. As one who has taken hundreds of classic car images, I know how hard it is not to get a companion selfie in the process. >grin<
Nice compliment of industrial/mechanical images. I think my favorite is the opening image. I could easily see that image in a hotel room or office waiting room.

    • With those shiny surfaces, a selfie is almost inevitable, a bit like trying to take a photo of something behind glass without getting any reflections. 🙂 As for the lights, I love them also and I think they’d work almost anywhere.

  5. Great selfie, and I too like those pendants in your coffee shop.

  6. I love the lights, and the Studebaker made me smile. Oldie, but goodie, and spell check has it underlined because it doesn’t recognize it. Hah!

  7. Dan Antion says:

I love the photo of those lamps.

  8. JohnRH says:

Great selections. I love those light fixtures.

  9. The car is photographed so well, Janet. I find it difficult
to capture glass and shiny things. It’s sure is industrial.
Where would we be without them? Probably, better off. lol
Nice selections for the challenge. Hope you’re well …
    Izzy 😎

  10. Great diverse photos Janet!

  11. Amy says:

Great selections, Janet. Love how you captured these lights.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, that or the other thing.
