Some weeks ago when Lisa came down from Flagstaff to visit and we wandered in the Preserve, the cottonwoods (or something) had evidently been oversharing, as in several places fuzziness had overtaken everything in the vicinity.
There’s a bit of fuzziness in our lives right now (Sunday as I write this) because my dad passed away tonight, following Mom’s death in early February. It’s been a tough year. One of my sisters-in-law has a very serious form of lymphoma as well, so needless to say 2022 will not go down as one of the best years of our lives. However, my parents both had long, wonderful lives (92 and 93 when they passed) and we know they’re in heaven where my dad is probably taking a horseback ride while my mom throws the javelin, something she did at a Senior Olympic record-setting level while still alive. ❤
It’s certainly been a very sad first half of the year for you but your positive way of thinking will keep happy family memories alive for you always.
That’s what we’ll strive to do, that’s for sure. ❤
Sad for you darlin, but they had a long life and it’s inevitable when one goes that the other will follow. Together again is all you can think, and we know that you have other joys in your life. Wishing you lots of happy memories, though I know this is a hard time to get past.
Thanks very much, Jo. It’s a sad time but also one of rejoicing that their sufferings and sadness are over and they’re joyful in heaven. ❤ That little grandson is a balm to our souls and a constant joy.
🤗💟
Yes, they had long lives and very active ones, but it’s still hard when parents pass. Take care of yourself, too. I am hoping you can find comfort in their love and your memories of them.
It is difficult and both within just over three months is quite something. But they were both ready to go and it was a blessing each time. We have lots and lots of good memories which is also a blessing. 🙂
That’s wonderful, Janet. Plenty of love and plenty of good memories. 😀😀. Take care.
Oh Janet how sad. It is always hard to lose those you love. God bless you and your family at this extremely tough time. Your parents did have a long life – filled with memories and love. ❤️
That they did, Peggy. They had long, good lives and loved each other very much.
I’m so sorry, Janet. I hope they’re together and time, and the memories of them bring you comfort, and joy. I’m so glad you were able to move house to be with them this last year+ that time was priceless. ❤🤗
Even though it was sometimes time-consuming and frustrating, it was a blessing we moved here and were able to spend that last two years with them as well as help them with everything. Lots of good memories and much relief for them that their sufferings are over and they’re at home in heaven.
🥰
I’m sorry so much has happened in so short a time and I empathize. Please take care of you as well. ❤️
Thanks, I will. Had a lovely coffee time with a somewhat new friend today in a lovely spot, which was a joy.
I can image things are a bit fuzzy right now. Be gentle with yourself (you and hubby) and hang on for the ride. Sending lots of prayers and energy.
We’ll certainly care for each other, Cee. Thanks! I hope things are going better for you two as well.
Condolences on the passing of your dear parents, Janet. So sad about your sister-in-law’s illness too. Your family is really going through a tough time right now. Lots of hugs from me.
The last four months have been a lot harder than the Covid years before them, but we’ll get through. Thanks for the hugs and good wishes, Sylvia.
So sorry to hear about the sad loss of your dad, Janet. Heartfelt condolences to you and your family!
Thanks so much, Aletta. ❤
So sorry for your second loss, Janet. Hugs to you all.
Hugs are always appreciated, Janet, even virtual ones. 🙂
Dear Janet,
I’m very sorry for your losses. I didn’t know you mom passed earlier this year as well. Although it seems your parents led long and interesting lives, loosing them is always too early.
I hope the thought of your parents meeting again being happy wherever they may be now, comforts you a bit.
All the very best to you in these tough times, my friend.
Big hugs,
Claudia xo
Thanks and it’s always good to hear from you, Claudia. I hope life is treating you well. ❤
What a tough year this is proving to be, Janet, and I admire your positive attitude. Take care of yourself, and your husband. Sending hugs, Sue
Will do and thanks very much, Sue. I always enjoy getting hugs. ❤
😊😊😊🥰
I’m so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing, but you are right in that they lived long wonderful lives. I’m glad you added the visual of him horseback riding and her throwing a javelin because it made me smile thinking of them being together again and doing things they loved. I wish your sister-in-law all the best and hope she has a good medical team to advise and assist her in this chapter. 2022 hasn’t been a good medical year here either, but one day at a time, one foot in front of the other. Prayers to you.
Thanks, Judy. The Covid time was easy compared to these last four months. 🙂
Janet I’m so sorry to read of your loss. The love you had for your parents has shone through your blog posts for as long as I’ve been a reader and I almost feel that I knew them too. I’m glad they had such long and happy lives together, and that you’ve been nearby for the last few years to care for them and build more memories. Thinking of you and your whanau and sending aroha.
Thanks so much, Su. Although it got rather tough at times, we’re glad we came and had these last couple of years with them. Always good to hear from you.
We’re keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, Janet. How wonderful to know that your mom and dad are together in heaven now, free from all sadness and pain.
So much appreciated, Dries. We’re happy for them and thankful we have the assurance of knowing where they are. ❤
I’m so sorry, Janet. That’s so much sadness to suffer all at once. Sending my love, but I wish there was more I could do.
It’s much appreciated, Hannah. 🥰
Condolences for your father and for the year so far….
I like that your dad is likely on horseback and your mom throws the javelin’
When my aunt Maxine passed away – the first idea had after the funeral was that she was dancing in heaven ! Her knees bothered her for many years and I never realized how inconvenient that was for her and well – when I imagined her dancing it was so cool!
I also believe our loved ones will be on our welcome team when it is our turn to go home
“When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there”
😊
I can’t be too sad that my parents are gone because of course they’re in heaven with perfect bodies and minds and completely happy. They were both in not very good condition when they died and they were both longing to go. I know they’ll be there when we arrive. 🙂
Janet that is great! They sure did reach a nice age-Will you stay in the AZ area
Not sure about in the long term but certainly for the time being. Mom and Dad were 92 and 93 respectively when they passed away and they had good lives for almost all that time.
❤️🙏
I was so glad we could visit. You have such a grand view of life. A realist. (Have a nice grandma vaca)
I was so glad it worked out. We’ll definitely be doing again.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. ❤ There are no words.
Thanks, Marian. ❤️
Senior Olympics!!! She sounds like a badass. A nice memory and thought here. Thanks for sharing
She was very athletic which was good for me—never heard that I couldn’t do something because I was a girl. 😉
