While walking along Hermosa Beach recently, we came across two houses whose doors were overshadowed, literally and figuratively, with what appears to be nature’s hair. I also enjoyed the contrast between the first house and the stark simplicity of the second, yet both are attractive.

As I mentioned earlier this week, I took a break Tuesday to drive to Prescott, Arizona to spend a day and a half with Marsh from Always Write blog. She and her husband were wonderful hostess and host and despite a (welcome) pouring rain that kept us from going to an outdoor concert and probably rained out the concert, we had a great time. Cheers to meeting in person with another meeting planned in just over a week with a surprise blogger. 🙂 Also, can anyone tell me where June went??

Cheers to two lovely ladies!
Right back at you, Jo. I did convey your hello to her. 🙂
I like the idea of hair with the buildings and It does soften the structure and had a beauty – and while know in the northeast, the ivy adorns the brick – but for some reason it feels like growth on buildings will ruin it – and I just want to remove it- lol
And nice photo of you and Marsha
Ivy looks good but is definitely not good for whatever it climbs on! It can certainly pull off some of whatever it’s on as well if you try to remove it. What I did with a tree in our backyard in Cleveland was to cut it off at the bottom and then wait until the top part started dying back. That seemed to work reasonably well.
Glad you liked the photo. 🙂
Good idea to snip tha bottom and let it loosen as it does back!
Sounds great meeting another blogger friend. Both doors have their own charm. June sneaked out the back door very fast.
I’ve enjoyed meeting a number of bloggers over the years and in the two years we’ve been here. I agree that both doors and houses have their charm.
Great selfie! I LOVE the first door. I recently saw a friend’s garage with a climbing hydrangea going across that looked similar except it also had flowers. Beautiful!
I loved both those doors and surroundings but the first one looks especially charming and welcoming. The photo isn’t actually a selfie (Marsha’s husband took it), but it could be if I had a really long arm. 🙂
Lovely photo and so lucky to be able to have a bit of a blog-up. You will just have to look back on June and do a Changing Seasons post janet 🙂
It was a lot of fun, Brian. As for Changing Seasons, here things look about the same a good part of the year. 🙂
Nice hairdo on those houses, Janet. I’m glad you got to meet Marsha, even if the concert was cancelled. I guess when you guys do get rain, it’s an event. As for June, I have no idea what happened to it. I hope you have a great holiday weekend.
Oh, fab, fun to meet a blogging pal!
It always is. 🙂
Wonderful door photos, Janet. Great to hook up with a blogging buddy, nice that you both made the effort…cheers!
You two look wonderful together. I really like your photos this week. 😀 😀
Thanks very much, Cee, for both parts of your comment. 🙂
I really like the top image. It has a vibe of a little Hobbit hole in the Shire. To me anyway.
How lovely you two look. Cheers!! 🥂 I’m glad you had a wonderful time!
It does look Hobbit-like in the most charming way, even though it doesn’t have a round door.
We had an excellent time, as will you and I. 🙂
Well, let’s think of it as a modern hobbit door.
I’m really looking forward to our meet up! 😀
Me too! And in such a wonderful place.
Perhaps the Hobbits had an HHOA (Hobbits Homeowners Association) requiring round doors. It’s the sort of thing HOA’s do. 🙂
😂so true!!
I daresay those doors have been hair than I do! I need to talk to their stylists. 😉
Ha! You might look interesting with that second look. Send me a photo if you get a cut like that!! 🙂
Nice to see you two!
And it was fun to see each other again.
Great😊
Wonderful! And a lovely shot of you two! I also love the overgrown houses – the elaborately grown one as well as the simple one – in style both of them.
I thought they were both wonderful looks and glad you liked the photo. 🙂
♥
Great pictures. Love those smiling faces.
❤ Thanks. For both.
LOL, “nature’s hair.” I love it. Hugs.
Thanks, Teagan. Glad you liked my comparison. 🙂 Hugs back at you.
Great photos, Janet. I love your description, ‘natures’s hair’. June went very fast for me too but I’m glad to see the back of it. We had a really wet and pretty cold month here. I’m hoping for a better July.
We’ve had a June exactly the opposite of yours: hot and dry. Please feel free to send us some rain!!
What a cheery picture! June really did fly by.
Hi, JT. Glad you liked the photo. I’d be happy if life slowed down just a bit. 🙂
🙂 These are the best meetings!
So nice to see you, dear Janet.
Have a very HAPPY weekend
Claudia xo 🙂
Thanks, Claudia. I wish we could meet in person. Maybe one day..
That top house looks very cozy.
And how wonderful that you got to meet a blogging friend. (K)
I thought the house looked cozy. It’s always fun to meet blogging friends in person. 😁

I love these images, Janet. Kind of reminds me of kudzu in the South, but prettier. How nice that you could meet up with Marsha! Wouldn’t it be fun if we could arrange an Arizona blogger meet-up?! 🌞
We’ll definitely have to work on that. It would be a blast. I thought about heading up to Flag afterwards but didn’t have the time this visit.
I’m in. Donna
Hi, Donna, great, I’m starting a list! 🌞
[…] week was most exciting because our friend, Janet from This That and The Other Thing drove to Prescott and spent the better parts of two days in Prescott with Vince and me. After […]
These are great. So glad you went up to cooler temps and rain, with most likely the best hospitality. Fantastic, welcoming doors.
Thanks, Donna. It was lots of fun, especially the family and grandson part. 🥰
It is a blast to have a meet-up. We made it one week with no pictures of the same doors, LOL. I love your hairy doors. I haven’t seen too many of those types, but you do inspire me to look. I think I saw one in Solvang. If you do a meet-up in Flag, I definitely want to be part of that. Lisa could meet us in Anthem on the 7th. Donna are you available? Are any other Arizonians out there hiding in the heat?
Won’t see many hairy doors around us. Not enough water! It would be great if we could get more bloggers for the meet-up this week.
That would be awesome! Feel free to invite anyone you know, Janet. 🙂
If Donna isn’t watching the grandchildren, she’ll come.
That’s awesome. Yay!
Yeah, I’m also looking for June.
Will let you know as soon as I find it 😀
I think you’re going to have to wait almost a year. 🙂
Doh!
😀
