Although we didn’t see flowers, we did spot what my plant app says is some sort of snowberry (or maybe an American beautyberry?) Whatever it is, the pop of color was vibrant.

I missed the best leaf color but trees like this made up for it. I should have saturated this photo to give more of a true sense of the brightness of the yellow.

I’d love to give you the name of this sculpture and I tried to figure it out from the map but to no avail. Just enjoy it for what it is and what you think it represents. I like to think of it as a wood sprite.

To give you a sense of size, here I am.

A bit more autumn color and inviting path waiting to take us farther in our explorations.

Wow! That Wood Spirit was so fascinating and such piece of art. Thanks for sharing this. Anita
My pleasure, Anita. There will be a few more sculptures in future posts.
Loved the photos. We have a plant like the first one, locals call it buckbrush. It’s berries aren’t as plump as beauty berry but still adds nice color in fall and winter.
Sometimes the berries of certain plants seem to be there for a very long time which makes me wonder whether they’re aren’t good to eat or if the birds a/o animals are saving them for later when there’s less other food.
Love these photos. Glad you stood by the sculpture – I would never have guessed it was so large. Simply lovely.
They were all quite large, Peggy. Glad you’re enjoying them.
Gorgeous. Between the art and nature, this is such a serene, inspiring spot.
It’s quite large too which makes it nice because lots of people can be there without it being overly crowded.
What an amazing sculpture Janet!
I liked it a lot.
I’ve seen that plant with the purple berries once in FL but, can’t recall its name. That tree is gorgeous, and it’s nice to see you!
🙂 Most of the trees I saw on the drive to Illinois had red/orange/brown leaves but I loved seeing the yellow, made even brighter by the sun.
That would cheer me up and the drive all that much finer. 😀
It was great. Made me happy.
Lovely arboretum! I bet kids like the hidey cave the sculpture makes.
I bet you’re right, Rebecca. Who wouldn’t?
Beautiful fall series, Janet. The tree and berries are beautiful. The sculpture is incredible!
It was the perfect autumn day, which made it all the better. 🙂
That Wood Sprite was quite a size!
Except for “Gingko”, the rest were all quite large, Sue.
Ah, OK
Looking good!
🙂
You did well to add yourself to the sculpture picture. It was far bigger than I imagined.
It’s hard to get a feel for the size without some sort of comparison.
Love the Sprite. Rather larger than expected.
I liked it a lot too, Andrew.
A pregnant wood spite. I always wondered how they procreated… 😀
😳😂😂😂

🥰
These statues, still wow
I was very impressed.
The autumn light was perfect for these pictures, Janet. It gave everything a lovely warm glow.
It really was perfect, wasn’t it? Just like the day and finding that last sculpture. 😉
Striking images
Thanks so much. Sorry for the delayed response but I just found your comment in my spam folder. 🙂
