The sun shone brightly, highlighting the gold of the leaves. We had to stop, get out, and just wonder at the quintessential beauty of autumn before moving on to the next sculpture. After several years in Arizona, the sight brought back memories of raking leaves, the girls jumping in piles of leaves, the crisp sound of leaves crunching underfoot.
“Rebellious leaves
going out
in a blaze of glory,
setting trees aflame
in riotous color.
Reluctant surrender
to rumors
of coming winter.”
― John Mark Green, Taste the Wild Wonder: Poems

“The leaves are changing; I feel poetry in the air.”
― Laura Jaworski

I do know the name of this sculpture: Ephemera. Beyond that, you’re on your own once again. 🙂 There are several chairs if you want to sit and contemplate for a bit.

Wow very beautiful 💕💜💖
Thanks, Marjola. I appreciate the visit and the comment. 🥰

Interesting sculpture
I thought so too. 😉
Very interesting sculpture Janet. I might need to use the chair to tink about this one! 😀
I understand that. 😉
Hmm, I’ll stick with the autumn colour, Janet. That’s enough beauty for anyone.
Ha! I get that, Jo. I hope you have a good weekend planned.
Just polishing off a very nice dessert, Janet. I may need a walk afterwards 🤗💖
😁. Sounds like a good plan. Enjoy.
I imagine if I chose to live in Arizona again after all these years in Arkansas I would miss the golden leaves of Fall -just as you miss the leaves of Illinois. The sculpture is such a work of the imagination. I could sit and look at it for hours and never figure out what the artist was trying to c onvey to an onlookder.
You can miss one place while still enjoying and appreciating another.
I guess art, like beauty, is on the eye (and mind) of the beholder.
I had to go look it up with the flowers and the ears. 🙂 “New Human+Nature sculpture Ephemera by Daniel Popper – artist explores how our senses connect us to the natural world. Calling attention to nature’s sound with gramophone-like daffodil ears, the sculpture invites Arboretum guests to listen to and observe the fleeting beauty of each passing season.” Great art plus good message.
Thanks, Judy. Where did you find that? I was having trouble getting more of about each sculpture.
When I did a search, a FB post came up with a very short video showing them putting the ears on. Then I found it on Morton Arboretum. Very interesting.
That’s a lovely wood, and great poem to go with it.
Thanks, Deborah. It’s so simple and enjoyable to find quotes and poems online.
A lovely post. Janet! I like autumn, a lot!
I do too, Resa, although Arizona autumn is much different from the stereotypical autumn. Nice and cool though!
Such an amazing autumn colors. These quotes are so wonderful. Anita
Thanks, Anita. It was a day filled with beautiful color.
