While not a bad day (today, Monday, as I write) it was a busy day where I got a lot done and had a couple of setbacks/irritations. I also had a wonderful moment when, on the way to Costco, the driver in the Jeep that blew by me going about 55 or 60 miles per house in a 45 mph speed limit, was pulled over by a motorcycle policeman. Made my morning! ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway, I don’t have a lot left to put into a long post so here’s a photo from my visit to Illinois in early November. Now I’m back to some rugby-watching, a glass of Burgundy, and soon a three-hour NCIS special. Then “to sleep, perchance to dream.” Cheers!

  1. We live very near an interstate, and you take your life in your hands once you get to the on ramp. Besides the excessive speed, I’ve had people pass me on the right and the left as I attempt to safely merge. Except for maybe New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day, there isn’t a Highway Patrol to be seen anywhere, and I know part of that is they are short of personnel. It would make my day to see someone stop one of these folks and remind them the rules of the highway. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is a “No Left Turn” sign at the end of our block so that during commute hours people are not supposed to turn up our street as it really blocks the flow of traffic. We have seen several folks stopped by the police in front of our house and we go stand on the porch and clap (not really because we don’t want the driver to come back and egg the house or something – but we do cheer from inside!)

    • I get that. Clapping inwardly!! Once we were stopped on a section of interstate and a man in an SUV decided he would drive on the right-hand shoulder and pass everyone. When the highway patrolman also took that path, people in the stopped cars were definitely clapping. ๐Ÿ™‚

A glas of burgundy sounds great. Cheers! Enjoy.
Wishing you all the best for the new year.

  4. There’s black ice on a spot on the way downtown on the major highway that people keep spinning out on and crashing the last week or so. Everyone on Nextdoor and I assume FB is posting about it and asking people to slow down!

The last time I went downtown I was fortunate and was some little way behind the snowplow so I was going only 35-40mph in a normally 65mph zone. People were still driving 70 and higher passing me up…until they reached the snow plow. Hahaha!!! Of course they were slamming on their brakes which was worrisome so I slowed down knowing they’d be getting in my lane. My thought…idiots!

I love the last image with the tiny pedal tucked behind another. It looks like it’s covering its face from the sun to see you better. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    • People wish SUV’s tend to drive as if they can stop faster and more safely than any other vehicle, which of course they can’t. And people in general don’t take much care, don’t use indicators, don’t drive close to the speed limit, etc. Idiots for sure!

Seeing the road hog get pulled over must be even more satisfying on account of its rarity.
